Maruti Suzuki is the leading car manufacturer in India with over 40% market share in the passenger vehicle segment. In February 2024, Maruti Suzuki India Limited sold a total of 197,471 units which is inclusive of domestic sales and exports, both in the PV and light commercial vehicle (LCV) segments.
Total domestic sales stood at 163,397 units, out of which 160,271 units were sold in the PV segment. During the same period last year, Maruti sold 147,467 cars which has resulted in a YoY growth of 8.68%. Out of these 5,147 units were supplied to other OEMs, i.e. Toyota, for models such as Glanza and Rumion.
Exports grew by 68% YoY in February 2024. The Indo-Japanese brand shipped 28,927 units in February this year as opposed to 17,207 units dispatched overseas during the same month last year.
Maruti Suzuki Feb 2024 sales: Compact segment generates volume
The compact segment continues to garner the maximum sales volume for Maruti Suzuki with 71,627 units sold in February this year. During the same period last year, this segment generated a volume of 79,898 units resulting in a YoY drop of 10.35%. This segment includes models like Swift, Baleno, WagonR, Dzire, Celerio, and Tour S.
The next-best volume generating segment for Maruti is utility vehicles with 61,234 units sold last month. During the same period last year, Maruti sold 33,550 UVs which translates to a massive 82% YoY growth. Maruti current retails eights UVs including Brezza, Ertiga, Fronx, Grand Vitara, Invicto, Jimny, S-Cross, and XL6.
