Subregional Leprosy Workshop for Caribbean Countries. Guyana (28–30 October 2025),

The Subregional Leprosy Workshop for Caribbean Countries, to be held in Georgetown, Guyana (28–30 October 2025), will bring together health professionals from eight countries for technical updates and collaborative training. The workshop is designed to strengthen clinical, laboratory, and programmatic competencies in line with WHO recommendations, supporting regional efforts to interrupt transmission and move closer to eliminating leprosy. Participants will focus on building skills for early case detection, accurate classification for appropriate multidrug therapy, the use of laboratory-based diagnostic tools such as slit-skin smear microscopy, and the management of leprosy reactions and peripheral nerve complications. They will also receive training on evaluating disability using the WHO eye-hand-foot (EHF) scale and strengthening follow-up and case monitoring, with the overall goal of advancing national strategies for elimination.
