Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather are the three good fairies who live with Yen Sid in the Mysterious Tower in Kingdom Hearts II. They originally come from the world Enchanted Dominion and appear in Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep and Kingdom Hearts Union χ. The three fairies also appear on Aurora's pillar during Sora's Awakening in Kingdom Hearts.
Story[edit]
Kingdom Hearts Union χ[edit]
Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather appear in Enchanted Dominion as a projection of the Book of Prophecies, where a parallel version of their future events is explored by Player and other Keyblade wielders from Daybreak Town.
Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather live in a cottage in the woods with Aurora, disguised as commoners. While preparing for Aurora's sixteenth birthday, they are attacked by Heartless, which Player saves them from. As the three good fairies use their magic to prepare a party for Aurora, the magic rises through the chimney, which Maleficent's Raven notices. Aurora returns home, accompanied by Player, to find the party. The three good fairies reveal that Aurora is a princess betrothed to Prince Philip, and plan to bring her to her father, King Stefan, that night. Aurora is distraught and runs to her room, while the three good fairies explain to Player how Aurora was cursed by Maleficent to prick her finger and die on her sixteenth birthday, and ask for Player's protection as they travel to the castle. After traveling through the woods, they part ways with Player outside the castle boundary. The three fairies take Aurora to her room, and use their magic to create a crown for Aurora. Seeing she is still upset, they decide to give her some time alone.
While they are absent, Maleficent hypnotizes Aurora into climbing up to a hidden tower with a spinning wheel. The three good fairies, joined by Player, rush after Aurora and attempt to stop her from touching the spindle, but are too late, and she falls into a deep sleep. After Maleficent taunts them and departs, the three good fairies put Aurora into bed and, led by Flora, cast a spell to put the castle residents to sleep until Aurora wakes up.
The three good fairies discover that Prince Phillip was the man Aurora met, and, accompanied by Player, search for him in the cottage. They find his hat, and realize he has been captured by Maleficent. At Maleficent's Castle, the three good fairies use their magic to shrink themselves and Player down to avoid being spotted. They find Phillip in the dungeon, being taunted by Maleficent. After Maleficent leaves, the three good fairies and Player sneak inside and free Phillip. Flora arms Phillip with a magic shield and sword, and the group attempts to escape. As they leave, Merryweather frees Samson, and turns Maleficent's Raven to stone.
The three good fairies and Phillip fight through the forest of thorns Maleficent creates around the castle, but are stopped at the castle bridge by Maleficent, who turns into a dragon and pursues the group to a cliff. As Maleficent fights Phillip and Player, the three good fairies enchant Phillip's sword, which pierces the dragon, defeating her and clearing the thorns. After Phillip kisses Aurora, breaking the curse, the three good fairies attend their dance, and fight over the color of Aurora's dress.
Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep[edit]
Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather appear during Ventus's visit to Enchanted Dominion after Maleficent takes Aurora's heart. They initially confront Ventus in Aurora's room, but, seeing his pure heart and resolve, agree to assist him in retrieving Aurora's heart, and lead the way to the Forbidden Mountain. Fauna dispels the barrier surrounding Maleficent's Castle, and together they enter the castle. After Ventus successfully frees Aurora's heart, the group attempts to leave, but are stopped by Maleficent. The three fairies assist Ventus in defeating Maleficent. After Ventus leaves, the three fairies find Aqua and Prince Philip in a cell in the castle's dungeon. Knowing Prince Philip is Aurora's true love who can break the sleeping curse laid upon her, the three fairies free the two and help them to Aurora's castle. Using their magic, the fairies enchant Prince Philip's sword, which he uses to defeat Maleficent's dragon form. Prince Phillip then kisses Aurora and breaks the sleeping curse.
Some time after the battle at the Keyblade Graveyard, the three fairies observe Aurora and Prince Philip as they dance. When Flora sees the blue color on Aurora's dress, she changes it to pink, and Merryweather changes it back to blue. The two fairies continue this throughout the rest of the dance.
Kingdom Hearts II[edit]
The three fairies give Sora his new outfit after he wakes from his year-long sleep, as well as the Star Seeker Keyblade and the ability to use Drive Forms. Comically, they get into a brief dispute about the color of Sora's clothes, until Sora impatiently asks them to stop arguing and just decide. When Maleficent's Raven brings Maleficent's robe to the Mysterious Tower, the fairies' memories accidentally bring her back from the past and they rush to tell Yen Sid.

| In the original Japanese version, the fairies simply disappear as they rush to Yen Sid. In the English version, they leave sparks behind, like in the original film. |
Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance[edit]
After Lea expresses a desire to become a Keyblade wielder, Yen Sid asks the three fairies and Merlin to alter the flow of time in the Secret Forest to progress the speed of Lea's training.
Kingdom Hearts 0.2 Birth By Sleep -A fragmentary passage-[edit]
To aid Mickey Mouse and Riku's mission to rescue Aqua from the Realm of Darkness, Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather craft new garments to shield them from the darkness, which Yen Sid gives them before they depart.
Kingdom Hearts III[edit]
Along with Riku and Mickey's new clothes, the good fairies also create garments for Sora, Lea, and Kairi. Yen Sid gives Sora his directly, while Riku and Mickey take Lea and Kairi's to deliver to them while they are training with Merlin.
Designs[edit]
All three of the fairies have short, grey hair, carry a yellow wand, and wear conical hats with a chinstrap made of cloth that wraps around the cone of the hat. They all wear long-sleeved dresses and capes that are nearly identical, except in terms of color. They are all roughly the same height as well.
Flora is between the other two fairies in terms of weight and dresses in a red dress and cape, with a gold skirt under the dress with gold cuffs. Her cape is secured by a rectangular, gold broach. Her wings are small, triangular, and have a faint, red tint. Her hat is also red, and the cloth wrapped around it is gold.
Fauna is the thinnest of the group, and wears a green cape, a lighter green dress, and an even lighter green skirt under the dress. She fastens her cape with a triangular, green broach. Her hat is green and the cloth wrapped around it is pale green. Her wings are small, triangular, and have a faint green tint.
Merryweather is the most heavy-set of the three, and dresses in a dark blue cape, a blue dress, and a light blue skirt under the dress. Her cape is secured by a blue, circular broach. Her hat is blue and wrapped in light blue cloth.
Personalities[edit]
Abilities[edit]
The three fairies can fly with their fairy wings and teleport in the form of magic sparks.
Their main source of magic lies in their three magic wands, which have the power to create, shapeshift as well as erase things. They can also use their magic to minimize their size. Since they are fairies of good, they can only use their magic to bring joy and happiness, and aren't very useful in combat. However, they can use it to neutralize danger.
The three good fairies can create clothes that ward off darkness, like the black coats and Keyblade Armor can do. They can also create clothes that allow the wearer to use Drive Forms.
Origin[edit]
The three good fairies of the land first appear in Sleeping Beauty at Princess Aurora's birthday celebration to bestow upon her their gifts, as they're announced by King Stefan's head messenger and majordomo, Lord Duke. Flora gives her the gift of beauty to have the gold of sunshine in her hair, lips that shame the reddest rose and that she walks with springtime wherever she goes. Fauna gives her the gift of song, melody her whole life long, nightingales and troubadours that bring sweet serenades to her door. Before Merryweather can give her a gift, Maleficent arrives and is angered that she was not invited to the celebration so she also gives a "gift" to Aurora. She curses Aurora so that before the sun sets on her 16th birthday she will prick her finger on the spindle of a spinning wheel and die, leaving the fairies, Aurora and Phillip's family, and the other royals and servants in horror and disbelief. After Maleficent leaves, Merryweather gives a gift to lessen the curse so that when she pricks her finger she will only fall asleep.
After the party, the fairies plan to hide Aurora and keep her away from Maleficent until Aurora's 16th birthday. They take her to the forest, call Aurora "Briar Rose", and act mortal in front of her. Later, they take her to her father's castle before the sunset of her birthday where Maleficent lures Aurora to touch a spindle of a spinning wheel. The fairies arrive too late to save her and cast a spell on everyone in the castle so they don't find out. They go to find Prince Philip and help him defeat Maleficent in order to break the curse on Aurora and everyone else, including King Stefan, King Hubert, and Queen Leah, awakens from their slumber.
Flora and Fauna are also terms referring to plants and animals, respectively. "Flora" was also the name of Walter Disney's mother.
