Almost walked out on his current job as play-by-play announcer with the
WWE after they asked him to become "J.R." and wear a cowboy hat. He said
that cowboys were from Texas, not Oklahoma, and didn't feel it was
appropriate. After much persuasion, he conceded to Vince McMahon's
demands and gave in. He is now widely-recognized as the most popular
broadcaster in the history of the company.
