Malachi Throne(1928-2013)

Provided the voice of The Keeper (played on-screen by Meg Wyllie) in "The Cage", the first pilot episode for Raumschiff Enterprise (1966). "The Cage" was unusable as a main series episode, so elements were incorporated as flashbacks in the two-part episode "The Menagerie". Malachi Throne was cast in this episode, this time to appear on-screen as Commodore Mendez, so consequently The Keeper had to be re-voiced by someone else.

My first agent told me to change my name or I'd only play Jewish parts or Indians. Of course I refused to change it. Shortly thereafter she came up to me and told me I had to keep it, because her numerologist said it was very, very good.
