Red Carpet

Yes pun very much intended. And the movie is aiming at times at those jokes, but also tries to inject some class. Just like the director of pornography (character in this movie, our main protagonist), who tries to make it into mainstream films. Obviously there are many jokes containing crude language. That's not very hard ... well to come up with. Ah well you can imagine the rest.

Actually don't imagine too much, because there is not going to be nudity. Even though things are more than suggested and you can hear people making noises of pleasure (during auditions for example). Some of the jokes do work. Because this is not made to titillate or to entice that much. If that concept with added romantic story does sound appealing to you, you could do worse ...

Very funny, enjoyed the puns and innuendos, and the feel good factor as well. Overall an enjoyable film. Unless I'm misunderstanding the writer's message, it seemed to me that this film was having a dig at the mainstream film industry showing their prejudices against the porn industry, when porn directors are very capable of directing in mainstream. Or is it that same film industry scared because of the paying public prejudices? Either way, it doesn't matter to me, if there's talent it should be showcased no matter where it comes from

When I found "Red Carpet" on Netflix, I had never even heard about it before. I read the synopsis and believed it to be a romantic comedy, which the South Korean cinema tend to produce quite well. With it being a South Korean movie, I needed no persuasion to sit down and watch it.

It turned out that this was more of a melodrama that it was a romantic comedy, so it was quite different from what my mindset was set up for. And on that account, then the movie fell short of living up to what I had hoped for in terms of entertainment and value. Actually, the movie had a rather mundane and generic storyline, to the point where it bordered on becoming pointless actually.

As for the characters in the movie, well they were equally generic and mundane as the storyline. Which was a shame, because that resulted in me not bothering to form any sense of relationship or bond with them. So I cared not what happened to them along the course of the movie.

"Red Carpet" was a very bland and generic movie, and it offered absolutely nothing to the genre that hasn't already been seen countless other times before. The blandness of the movie and the pointless characters resulted in this being a very mediocre experience for me. And I can honestly say that I will not be returning to watch this a second time.
