Zusammenfassung
Reviewers say 'Star Trek: Discovery' receives mixed reactions for its fresh take, impressive effects, and diverse cast. Fans appreciate modern themes and character development. Criticisms include Klingon redesigns, deviations from traditional values, and reliance on action over philosophical depth. Some find character arcs and storytelling lacking, while others praise progressive social justice themes. The series polarizes audiences with its approach to core Star Trek elements and new directions.

Start out really good but my god it's now pathetic
Never have been so bored to death of hearing stupid speeches. Every 10 minutes there's a big speech about what there going in to and how important it is. Yeah yeah we got after 50th speech we didn't need another 100. Make a sci-fi program not political bull crap.
Worst Star Trek series ever - sappy and draining.
The first season was ok and had a promising start but it rapidly decayed into a sappy soap opera set in the Star Trek universe. The characters in the show and the plot have all the potential needed but the continuing agony of ongoing psychology sessions (they call them episodes) is making me reconsider my future and I'll need counselling, long into the future, for having watched this. Writing this is part of my exposure therapy after season 4 where my brain was set to stun. But seriously, so disappointed that the focus was on giving out life lessons and not writing good Star Trek stories. I get it that you can have positive messages in shows, not a bad thing, but this is just way too much, at the expense of a potentially good series.
In my personal unscientific rating scale 4=Forced myself to watch to the end but didn't really enjoy and won't watch it again.

Lost in Space: How Did Star Trek Lose Its Course?
These days, Star Trek is all about over the top graphics, silly side plots, boring story lines, and forgettable characters. That's a shame because Star Trek used to be exciting, intelligent, and something to truly look forward to, even stay home for. I miss the focus on deep philosophical questions, complex moral dilemmas, technical challenges overcome with ingenuity, and just the pure fun of watching a story unfold. There's still room for great storytelling in the Star Trek universe, but it needs to return to its roots: thoughtful exploration, genuine curiosity, and technology that feels achievable, not outlandish. Let's be honest, the spore drive? The most ridiculous addition ever. But it's not just the spore drive, the dark and murky scenes, and the unclear goals just don't excite me anymore.
Remember the days when a malfunctioning transporter sparked a debate on the nature of consciousness? Now, technical hurdles get resolved with a unrealistic technology. Where's the ingenuity?
The characters themselves have become, for me, one-dimensional, unlikable, and forgettable. Can you even recall what happened to those characters just one season ago? This prioritization of spectacle over substance feels like Star Trek has gotten lost in space, far from what made it such a groundbreaking and beloved series.
Sometimes the past was better then the present.

What is this?
I just finished watching season 4 episode 1 and I don't know what to make of it. The show's script and dialogues feels like it's for an audience of 12 years old. The special effects are nicely done but the technology is borderline "magic" not believable.
Season 3-5 is a joke
Just terrible writing and acting has devolved to utter trashy talk in season 5. I am so glad this series is over. This is not Startrek....
On plus side there are some good things such as the special effects, Saru, the engineers and the doctor. Captain Georgio was awesome as well but they killed her off so Michael could assume some sort of predestination to the Captains chair.
The tech issues are bad in this show, could the transporter not detected the temporal bug? It picks up everything else unless it is to further some insane plot line that is so far fetched that it becomes unbelievable. I have and will put my trust into Picard, lower decks, and strange new worlds. I AM HOPING THE WRITERS ON THIS SHOW STAY AWAY FROM STRANGE NEW WORLDS AND ARE NEVER INVOLVED WITH ANOTHER TREK SERIES. GOOD RIDANCE!

- WissenswertesThe Starfleet vessels seen in the first season, including the Discovery, the Shenzou and the redesigned Enterprise, were all designed by production artist John Eaves. Eaves' work with Star Trek spans three decades. Probably his most notable contribution was the design of the Enterprise-E for Star Trek - Der erste Kontakt (1996).
- PatzerWith Michael being the adoptive sister of Spock, the series has many flashbacks to their childhood and upbringing on Vulcan. Spock's Vulcan half-brother, Sybok, does not appear nor is mention during these scenes. In Star Trek V - Am Rande des Universums (1989), Spock says that he and Sybok grew up together. However, since it's never stated when Sybok joined Sarek's home - only that he did so following his mother's death - or when he was exiled from the family, it's not impossible Sybok moved in after Burnham, and left before she graduated (the two extremes of the flashbacks). Also, since Sybok was never mentioned before Star Trek V, it seems reasonable the family never spoke of him again after his estrangement.
- Alternative VersionenThe serif-font legends and subtitles in the "broadcast" episodes are absent from the DVD versions, where they are replaced with the standard DVD subtitles.
