You're better off just watching Part 4 the anime. This is literally just a compilation of like three or four episodes from the show, Jerry rigged to be one story. To be honest, it's done pretty well, and the new bits that they add to this to make it all one cohesive plot for a film is pretty effective. But you're better off just watching the show, I imagine that if you've never seen the show and you wanna watch this to get a taste of what it's like without committing to the whole thing this is good for that... But nothing else really.
Really thought I was gonna get some new part 4 contact out of this one, so it's very disappointing to realize this is what it is.

Me likey. Me likey a lot. This is like a retro-spin which is modernly smart enough to avoid goofy camp. This is my first time watching anything Lupin and I am three episodes into season four... or whatever the latest season is, as of 2017. But yeah, this series has sharp dialogue, good action, a likable band of misfits but more importantly of all, it is a fun watch. I was tempted to go back and watch the other seasons but that is too much viewing for my liking. 8/10
It became very distracting to me. The film keeps centering around Count Cagliostro, and no one mentions that Lupin III has already faced the count in the film "Castle of Cagliostro". Thanks to Miyazaki, it is Lupin's most famous adventure, but they never do anything with that history.
I guess they realized that this movie already has way too much going on. Lupin gets married, they steal the crown jewels, the necklace of Marie Antoinette, MI6 gets involved, Jigen gets tortured and on top of everything Zenigata is still chasing after Lupin. That isn't even scratching the surface of all the explosions, betrayals and Mission: Impossible masks.
It is strange how much goes on in this movie, considering they spend the first 20 minutes on the same train chase.
Don't misunderstand me, there is a lot of good stuff in this Lupin adventure, mainly because there is just a whole bunch of stuff in this film.
