Unwanted

I'm a huge fan of haunted house films and I particularly like checking out indie films in the genre to see what they can do within the framework. Unwanted is about a couple who get a great deal buying an old house that was on the market for a long time, but soon find out that the reason why it wasn't selling was because a family was murdered there. Soon, supernatural elements start to emerge. I was fully on board with the premise and enjoyed the soundtrack, which put me in the right mood. I like the frenetic camerawork that reminds me of several notable horror classics, though I know that it can be too much for some. The film is an indie and low budget, so I'm not going to evaluate it like it's a big Hollywood blockbuster with millions to spend. The film is imperfect, but ultimately I was invested in the plot and felt it was worth watching. Check it out if you are a fan of indie horror flicks.

Good movie but its to much like the conjuring. They tried to hard to copy it and didn't make the sound very good but its still a decent movie

This was a pretty typical run of the mill horror plot line. I get it, this has a very tiny budget, but good god there's so many problems. Bad sound, terrible color grading, uneven cinematography, and cringe dialogue weigh this down.

The camera literally shakes and moves throughout and it wasn't supposed to. Also it's very unfocused on the actors faces and can be blurry from time to time.

For the positives I will say that the lead actress (the mother) did a fairly decent job and tied her best with the material. The dad was also not too shabby.

There was some effort put into this for sure, but the final product was not great and hard to watch.

Despite the abundance of competition, indie horror fans are perhaps the most fickle subset of the planet's population: They simply love to hate films as much as they love to love them. Yet praise or pan, we can always bank on the fact their collective bloodlust will keep 'em coming back for more.

"Unwanted" doesn't drop gallons of guts from on high, as this is a more understated iteration of the genre, and an effective one at that. Shot in a house that's serene and expansive from the outside, life tightens up considerably on the inside, as a couple begins experiencing telltale signs of the supernatural. If that all sounds familiar, it's because it is -- but this is a film that presents an alluringly recognizable vehicle attractively repackaged in its own skin.

Extremely poor sound work. Music was unoriginal. Lighting was poor, too dark, not balanced or just not used in any useful capacity. Colour grading was cantankerous. Setting was uninspired. Acting was amateurish, almost theatrical at times. Lack of logic in regards to character actions. Camera shots felt a bit static at times and some shots/character actions felt like they were pointlessly drawn out. Also shaky cam even though this isn't a found footage film. Can't comment on the pacing too much because I kept on zoning out, googling the background of this film.

Storyline is cliché but that's not a bad thing, just that the way that they told the story or decided to approach it was dismal.
