There is no official confirmation from Nintendo or the movie makers about whether Mario and Peach will get married in later Mario Movie instalments. However, the two characters have a complicated and on-off romance, which has been portrayed differently in various games, promotional materials, and social media. In the latest game, Super Mario Odyssey, Peach rejects both Mario and Bowser's proposals and decides to have her own adventure. Therefore, it is unlikely that Mario and Peach will tie the knot anytime soon, unless there is a major change in their relationship dynamics.

There is no official explanation from the movie makers about why Luigi's mustache grew back after Bowser ripped it off. However, some possible theories are:

• It was an intentional joke, as a reference to the Mario games, where Luigi can grow a mustache by eating a Super Mushroom.

• It was a continuity error, as the movie was made with computer-generated animation, and the mustache was part of Luigi's character model.

• It was a subtle hint that Luigi has some special powers, as he is the only human who can use the Poltergust 3000, a device that can capture ghosts.

Princess Peach said that Mario's not important to the Toads because she was trying to protect him from Bowser's wrath. She did not think that Mario was a bad person, but she knew that Bowser hated him and wanted to eliminate him. By pretending that Mario was just a plumber who accidentally stumbled into the Mushroom Kingdom, she hoped to spare him from Bowser's attention. However, this plan backfired, as Bowser became more curious and suspicious of Mario, and eventually captured him along with Luigi, Toad, and Peach.

It could also be possible that it would have taken some time to explain who Mario is and why he's coming with Princess Peach on the mission. Since they didn't have enough time to explain, so she just said that "He's not important (to explain right now)".

A new film in the franchise was officially announced on March 10, 2024. The announcement video seemingly went out of its way to not refer it a sequel-instead calling it "a new animated film based on the world of Super Mario Bros."-but since then it has simply been called a "new Super Mario animated movie" (translated from Japanese) and the first film's directors are confirmed to return, so the film will likely be a sequel.

The film is expected to release on April 3, 2026 in the United States, and April 26, 2026 in Japan.
