Der Schatz der Sierra Madre (1948)
The film's plot-- men looking for gold in the mountains only to have their search undone by greed, suspicion, paranoia, bandits, nature and other outside forces-- is a clear homage to John Huston's "The Treasure of the Sierra Madre". Also, one of the Vietnamese bandits who comes to steal the gold from the Bloods says "we don't need no stinkin' official badges", which is a take on the most iconic line from "The Treasure of the Sierra Madre". Also, upon finding the gold, the Bloods dance in celebration in the same manner as Walter Huston's character did in the John Huston film.Die Brücke am Kwai (1957)
In the temple scene, Otis says "Madness! Madness!" after being shot. This was the last line of the film "The Bridge on the River Kwai".The Beverly Hillbillies (Fernsehserie 1962–1971)
Paul speaks about a hillbilly from Oklahoma named Jethro Bodine. This was Max Baer Jr.'s character in "The Beverly Hillbillies".Shaft (1971)
While describing Stormin' Norman to David, Otis says "he was a bad mother-- shut your mouth". This is a line from the iconic theme song of the film "Shaft".Der wilde wilde Westen (1974)
When the Vietnamese officer is asked for his official badges, he replies that they don't need no stinking official badges mocking the famous reference in Blazing Saddles.
