Philip Nolan: Because of one misbegotten vote. If one muddle-head in Washington had cleared his head long enough to make one vote properly, Mr Burr would be in the White House and we would be riding into Mexico.

Lt. Vinson: You pick your heroes badly, Philip. Burr doesn't want Texas for the United States. He hates the United States. He wants Texas for himself, an empire of his own - Texas, Mexico, South America. And when he's got his kingdom, he'll throw all you little patriots out with the dead meat.
