It's a shame this movie was shot on video rather than film, because it deserves better. Perhaps the producer didn't allocate much dinero for this picture, but the story and stars almost overcome this obstacle. First of all, you have Julio Aleman, the Cary Grant of Mexican cinema, who has had quite a long and illustrious career. His choice of movie roles have been good, and his co-stars have included musical maestro Jose Alfredo Jimenez and comic genius Mauricio Garces. Paired with him is beautiful leading lady, Diana Ferreti who, on the other hand, hasn't always got the best parts, but here is given something to sink her teeth into. Both actors show their stuff in "La Hora 24" which boasts excellent characterization and plot. Fans of the TV series, "Early Edition" might think this movie was the basis for that show, but it was in fact done much earlier, in Rene Clair's "It Happened Tomorrow"(1944). The story concerns a man, down on his luck, who is given the opportunity of making use of tomorrow's newspaper today, and only today. In a race against time, he attempts to help others along the way, as well as himself and recent acquaintance Ferreti. The story evokes comedy, tragedy and pathos, and besides the fine performances by the human cast, a dog shows he can hold his own in the acting profession as well! NOTE: The video back cover gives it a copyright date of 1987.
