Sunnys Ohren

Sunny is a thirteen year old who was ill a couple of years ago and ended up, sadly, deaf. She talks normally but must lip read at school, with her friends and parents, wherever she goes. She also signs with deaf friends and her mother is valiantly learning sign language, too. One day, Sunny drops her notebook and a darling stray dog helps her collect her papers. She's smitten. However, her parents don't want a dog at the home. Sunny finds ingenious ways to keep Ears, as she calls him, to handle a snooty girl at school, to attract a cute boy, and more. All the while, Ears is displaying his cute and clever ways and wins everyone's heart. What could be more perfect?

This British film is flat-out wonderful. Sunny is a young beauty, her parents are good-hearted working class folks, and Ears is adorable beyond belief. Everything about the production is first rate, from the costumes, to the sets, to the minor characters and so forth. If you can find this film (I bought a copy off of the Internet), BUY it for the family. Everyone will be glad to get an Ears-ful of this delightful movie.
