Jason X is an entertaining blend of horror, sci-fi and comedy, though the film doesn't go very far in any of the three categories alone. The best way to view this film is to simply not expect it to deliver anything and just sit back and enjoy it for what it is: a slasher flick! And for being that, it is quite amusing. The comedy in the film does succeed considerably more than other slasher flicks which try to incorporate comedy into the mix. At least I thought so. Really, I just enjoyed this film cuz I had nothing better to do when I watched it and was in the mood for something... well, stupid. That's what it is, and for being stupid, it's fun. Sometimes it's fun to be dumb. 6/10
or: Jason X, People 0.
After being cryogenically frozen for half a millennium, the unhappiest camper of all time is transported via space station to Earth 2 (the sequel?) and accidentally thawed out. He begins hacking and slashing his way through a group of less obnoxious nitwits on board the space station in deep space.
Uneven structure, the film is basically two acts: the first last about 20 minutes, and sets up Jason being frozen and thawed. Then the second act has him slaughtering a commando unit, and various other people on board this space station, for the remainder of the film's run time. Film never really climaxes, it just stops in a way which the filmmakers incorrectly think is clever and humorous.
A definite improvement over the previous film, Jason goes to Hell, but there are absolutely no scares. Technically well made, this is mostly a science fiction/ comedy, as the film is set on board a space station and the majority of the dialogue is one-liners. Jason makeup has been toned down considerably: no longer is he a rotting, walking corpse; here, he appears to be just a guy in a hockey mask. But that works for this movie, for some reason. I kind of liked it that way for a change. The characters are fairly dim, as always, but not as repulsive as in a couple other installments of this series. Lexa Doig, Kane Hodder, and Peter Mensah do surprisingly well with their characters and the material, which is the biggest asset for this movie.
Filmed in March and April 2000, released in Germany in July 2001, Spain in November 2001, South America in January and February 2002, Stateside and the rest of the world did get it until at least the spring of 2002, giving this film probably the oddest, longest delayed release in the series' history.

OK, Yeah it's the Tenth in the series. Don't expect an epic. Because this is not.
To be honest, it's not got the biggest budget and at the tenth in a series, you won't really find incredible Oscar-winning actors, hence some of the acting remains a bit dodgy at parts throughout the film. Neither will you get awesome special effects and CGI, which this doesn't.
However, if you love an insane story-line and lots of gore and murder and menace then this one delivers, and it delivers well. Kane Hodder as Jason definitely delivers the hulking figure and menace that Voorhees has and he does it so well. It's an action-packed hour and a half and not to be taken too seriously. So if you sit back and don't put too much thought into it, it's really quite enjoyable. I certainly did.

This movie sent a large following away from the franchise in utter disbelief. And I will say that "Jason X" is a very different "Friday the 13th" experience. It actually seems like it is meant as a spoof and a farce on its own franchise. You take Jason Voorhees and put him in a cryo-freeze, then thaw him up in the distant future and put him into space...
It is, of course, a matter of taste and personal preference whether or not you like the tenth movie and its deviant turn away from its usual formula. I enjoyed it, seeing it as a fun approach to the franchise.
There were some interesting things throughout the movie, especially with what happens to Jason, which spurred the 'evil gets an upgrade' catchphrase of the movie.
The effects were fun and good, as you have been witnessing all throughout the series of the movies. There were a good amount of killings in "Jason X" of course, as in all these movies. And there were some good laughs here as well.
And "Jason X" has Kane Hodder as Jason Voorhees, which is more than enough of a reason to watch the movie. And a special appearance by none other than David Cronenberg.
If you like the "Friday the 13th" movies and want a break away from the usual setting of the Voorhees movies then sit down and Watch "Jason X". It is fun for what it is.

...I think it's actually not that bad. Trashy fun, yes. Some memorable scenes, interesting ideas, but never really good enough. A lot of spoofs of it's own franchise.

- WissenswertesWhile this film was a critical and financial failure in its initial release in theaters, it made more than triple the cost of production in DVD and post-theater sales. Statistically, It is one of the most successful 'Friday the 13th' films. Despite initial negative critical feedback, over time it has become more popular among younger fans of the franchise, mainly for its self-deprecating humor and inventive death scenes.
- Patzer(at around 20 mins) Adrienne removes Jason's left eye, which can later be seen again. However as explained at the beginning Jason has the ability to regenerate damaged tissue, which could include the removed eye.
- Alternative VersionenThe fight between Jason and Kay-Em 14 was originally longer. It was trimmed for pacing reasons.
