Down with Pornography

The loop carrier DOWN WITH PORNOGRAPHY has very little to offer beyond its catchy title. Best news is that yucky early porn era star Adam Ward is on hand only as the host, not part of the XXX action for a change.

Smoking a cigar, he presents us with stag films as examples of perversion that he's hankering to stamp out. Making Adam Ward the spokesman for the moral majority makes about as much sense as nominating Rick Perry for president (OUCH!, I'm probably going to regret that remark).

The four soundie loops he presents are variable in quality, but provide adequate hardcore action for a 1971 Adult Cinema audience. They don't hold up very well, however, in the video revival on Vol. 174 of Something Weird's Dragon Art Theatre series.

Mindy Wilson, the effervescent star of the classic FLOSSIE: A VENUS OF FIFTEEN, is featured in two of the segments, basically the reason I wanted to see this film. Ambivalence set in quickly, however, since it was great to see her again but she is ill-used.

First segment has Mindy in a Brownie outfit trying to sell Girl Scout cookies to Roy Van der Welt (who she had co-starred with in FLOSSIE). This loop accurately capitalizes on Mindy's underage appeal -her body is definitely indicative of her being 21, but Mindy's girlish voice, giggly enthusiasm and general acting peg her character as being in the early stage of puberty. Pornographers make her a Brownie to boot, a Girl Scout being too old for the fans.

This lengthy segment is followed by a second Brownie serviced by creepy but big-dicked porn vet Henry Ferris, here hiding uncharacteristically behind a shoulder-length hairdo in the role of a cheesecake still photographer. This blonde Brownie (does that make her a Blondie?) is quite unattractive but like Mindy goes through endless positions until Ferris's money shot. Dirty feet mark this as low-grade porn.

Mindy returns in the third loop, titled "Tales of Seduction", which even sports its own self-contained "THE END" card. Keith Erickson improvises in his usual goofy fashion, before humping Jill Sweete while Mindy plays the odd wheel in the threesome.

Final segment has Sandy Carey by a swimming pool, servicing Bill Scott. This is routine, wasting Carey's abilities.

Ward gets the last word in an idiotic wrap-up segment.

As usual, the shill writing copy for display on the back of the SWV DVD-R box didn't recognize that Mindy was in two different loops, nor did he even mention the Brownies angle at all.

Film starts with an okay jazz score but soon becomes extremely boring by playing Muzak version of "Hair" three times through and also the standard "For Once in My Life".
