You can tell that they really tried hard with this game. Its a fun, frantic and detailed game that will keep me playing for some time. The graphics are amazing and still keeps this up on Xbox Live. It has an impressive arsenal of weapons of course and it shouldn't be hard to find your favourite.
It is not without flaws however. The physics may be good but the movement of your character is not realistic and sometimes you might find yourself struggling with the controls to turn quicker. It is surprisingly difficult to aim too which is irritating, especially when you've seen the enemy first.
As a complete game, 1 player mode is worth completing and has a decent story. Just try to ignore the terrible voice-overs! Xbox Live is fun too but challenging.

This game brings me some great memories and I'm thankful for that. Lots of joy and many hours spent in front of the screen as I was trying to get better and better.
Of course this game has some flaws, but having in mind that they were having lot of problems while the game was still in development( tight deadline, small teams, many unplanned changes), I think they shouldn't be harshly criticized or judged.
And I am well surprised on how graphics look, especially taking in count that it was made in 2005.
Perfect Dark Zero was an incredibly early title for the Xbox 360. I half-suspect it was developed for the previous gen of consoles PS2, Xbox and Game Cube. As a launch title it is pretty solid, not quite a killer app, but a highly anticipated sequel to one of the best N64 games. As a bonus a limited edition steelbook was also released.
Perfect Dark Zero couldn't live up to the reputation of N64's 2000 'Perfect Dark'. It was released way too late. Graphically the game is a step-up compared to Xbox and PS2 titles. Zero has some impressive lighting and environments. Like 'Timesplitters' you get a real sense of atmosphere from Zero. Space bases that wouldn't be out of place in 'Metroid Prime', Aztec style temples similar to 'Turok' and a nightclub level which wouldn't be miles away from the one in 'Dead 2 Rights'.
I liked the music. I know many have said the soundtrack isn't as good as 'Perfect Dark' and that's valid. I would agree. It's sort of early 2000s techno and digitized guitars. I like it, but many didn't. The gameplay has a few gaping flaws. The group missions with NPCs are badly implemented and frustrating. The stealth missions are tedious and even worse than those in earlier games like 'Metal Gear Solid'. The game doesn't take itself seriously and the weapons and shooting is where it shines. All the weapons are fun and varied. The shotgun is powerful, the Jackal and Shockwave are accurate in sniper mode and rifles like Superdragon are fast and balanced. I know this is basic stuff, but I've played games where using the sniper scope is so slow you can't get a shot in or games where the rifles have so much recoil you can't hit anything.
Zero isn't a patch on the N64 game, but it did sell well. It's a shame Rare haven't followed this game up. I think the timing is right for a revival.

- WissenswertesThe game was originally going to be produced for the GameCube, but its developer, Rare, was bought by Microsoft. It was then going to be made for the Xbox, but was pushed back to be made for the Xbox 360.
- Alternative VersionenPerfect Dark 0 was originally slated for a Nintendo Gamecube release, but in September 2002, Nintendo decided to officially sell its share of developer Rare Ltd. to Microsoft. The year before, Nintendo had the opportunity to purchase the company, and refused. Since Rare Ltd. was sold to Microsoft, and Perfect Dark is a license owned by Rare Ltd., the game was now scheduled for an X-Box release, with character art different from the original Perfect Dark game.
