I watched the first series and unfortunately I didn't manage to find the other ones in Europe and with subtitles, but it's definitely the most beautiful sitcom I've ever seen together with Father Ted. Every episode is incredibly funny and super smart, making you think about prejudices and racism but in a really black humor kind of way, and some needed sad moments aren't missing. The actors as well are amazing, especially the grandfather, but actually all of them. It's incredible how many feelings can be expressed through comedy and how much of the beautiful souls of israelis and Palestinians. Between all the shows that are black or white, the bleak pessimism and division that is portrayed in many movies and series about Israel and Palestine, I found this series so fresh and much more representing and uniting both populations, it gave me hope that there can be a future of peace. Sayed Kashua, who wrote the series, is a Palestinian-Israeli writer and journalist, writing in Hebrew, and you can really feel his touch. He really is one of the most interesting figures in the Middle Eastern intellectual panorama and wrote some interesting stuff you should check out.

One of the best shows I've ever seen (Not just Israeli but in general). Manages to portray many aspects of Israeli society, especially dealing with Arab Jewish relations. Deals relatively well with the many complicated dilemmas facing Israeli Arabs, as well as can be expected of a comedy. It's incredibly funny. Sayed Kashua is a genius. I would also highly recommend all three of his books, although I've only read the first one in English, and it was much better in Hebrew. If you want to understand Jewish Arab relationship in Israel while not getting thoroughly depressed I highly recommend this. Although if you truly want to understand you'll need to see and read more material, as the show is a comedy and only strays from the confines of such to a certain extent.
