Doorman

This film is about the encounter and the subsequent erotic tension between a hunky doorman and a college guy.

Though "Doorman" is short and low budget, it is quite stylishly shot. A memorable scene is when the doorman has internal struggle in his staff room, the close up shot produces a vertigo inducing effect which is powerful and suited to the scene's atmosphere.

The character development is also done well. In the space of just 17 minutes, I have grown sympathetic of Diego, and I dislike Garrett. Diego is a convincing character, his fascination with Garrett, the subsequent confusion are portrayed well. The acting is great, the tension between the two characters are presented engagingly. I enjoyed this short film.

As the IMDb outline explains, Diego is seduced by Garrett. But there's so much more to this low-budget film than this bare outline.

Both actors play a blinder and encapsulate variations of the gay experience, Diego hesitant and inexperienced but Garret worldly and seeking new sensations to satiate his jaded palate.

There's little dialogue and these two guys do a fantastic job of alluding to their feelings and emotions by gesture and body language.

The ending is a revelation and is not consistent with the plot outlined on this site. There's no other way it could have ended really. Two worlds collided, united and parted.

A definite recommendation.
