Washington Black

The world of Washington Black is a world I would have never thought existed before the arrival of this whimsical historical drama/adventure. The acting is heartfelt and brilliant from the entire cast. I especially love performances from Ernest Kingsley Jr. And Iola Evans. Their chemistry is a joy to watch and I absolutely love the newness they bring to the screen with their wonderful individuality.

Another standout for me was the enchanting musical score done by composer Cameron Moody. It breathes magic into the storytelling in such a refreshing way that leaves you feeling moved after finishing each episode. You don't often hear music of this style and caliber in Television and I think it deserves all the flowers from the viewer.

Bravo to everyone involved!!! Great show.

Omg, the choice of actors, Tom Ellis, Sterling K. Brown, Rupert Graves, Ernest Kingsley Junior, Eddie Karanja, Lola Evans, even the short scenes of the crazy character you will never forget played by Chris Patrick-Simpson! And many more... this cast of characters is turning into the book of Leviticus with all the legendary names in HOLLYWOOD. Watching such beauty and the most incredible scenery in each episode depicting the oceans and islands is a complete honor. The storyline was excellent, although I wish it were exactly true. You have to feel there is a bit of fantasy mixed in. I am still watching this series, and dreading the moment it will end soon. My dog is barking at the door. The dishes need to be washed, the floors need to be cleaned, the whole house is a mess, and thank God I can pause the show and tend to all of my chores and then return to finish the show! I love technology! Thank you, Hulu!. 😊

A period piece with fantasy and Hope without ignoring the facts of our history. The story draws you in with beautiful places beautiful people. It left me looking forward to the next episode and wondering how it would all tell his story. I would recommend it to everyone. I'm looking forward to an audiobook so that I can enjoy it even more. Thank you for this series.

It's rare for a show to lose me within the first ten minutes, but Washington Black unfortunately did just that-and not because I lacked interest in the subject matter.

On the contrary, I was intrigued. Based on Esi Edugyan's award-winning novel of the same name, Washington Black had all the ingredients for a compelling and timely story: a young Black boy escaping slavery in 19th-century Barbados, science fiction elements, themes of identity and freedom, and a historical sweep that promised rich visual storytelling. Sadly, the show falters almost immediately, weighed down by clumsy pacing, shallow character introductions, and an uncertain tone that never quite knows what kind of story it wants to tell.

I hadn't heard much about Washington Black before watching, but after just one episode, I'm completely hooked. The story is gripping, the visuals are stunning, and the acting is top-tier. Seeing some of my favorite actors like Sterling K. Brown and Tom Ellis in the cast makes it even better. I can't wait to see where this journey goes!
