The story for this film was written in 1992 when Ryan Phoenix was 15 years old. 27 years later he wrote the screenplay.

Patzer
Since it was towards the end of the war the Germans were losing. The officers and lone German soldier should of been more weathered. Their uniforms were too clean.

Alternative Versionen
There were two cut away scenes that were cut in post. First one was a Jewish worker killing Bruno and Gunter's brother, Wahlt. The second scene was an American soldier discovering the grave at a later time frame. We decided those scenes may add confusion to the story.
