"Fighting Olympus" takes us on a journey to the underworld of Hades, where gods and demons control the fate of humanity. This movie has a cool urban vibe to it, juxtaposing SWAT team culture with the dingy, dark underworld. A man is sent to find his brother and a pesky news reporter who have gone missing - presumed dead. As he descends, he finds Hades, Athena, Medusa, Persephone, Poseidon, Apollo - all your favorite Greek gods. Movie contains some decent fight scenes and choreography. Kudos to hair, makeup and the costume designer for creating a unique look and setting for the movie. Definitely worth watching.
Fighting Olympus is a unique action film that dives into the world of Greek mythology. In this modern-day adaptation of the Odyssey, Rucker (Leslie A. Jones) goes in search of his kidnapped brother Biddle ( Devinar Mathis). He must endure many trials in his journey to Hades.
While it is evident that Writer/ Director Julian Hampton was on a tight independent film budget, he is able to effectively tell the story.
On a personal note, I wish I had studied Greek mythology a little more. While I was able to recognize many of the names of the Greek gods and goddesses, I would have liked to see how the characters paralleled their Greek counterparts.

I will give it this. It was a different take on Greek mythology. The acting was third rate at best. The technical was high school. Sorry.... I don't get the great reviews this is receiving. I must be out of touch. I was cringing at the lines delivered by the actors and actresses. It was only my incredulity that took me to the end. Honestly...this is one of the worst films given the best reviews I have ever seen. I am only going to give it two stars because whomever wrote the script deserves some credit for the uniqueness of the content and the overall theme. I encourage all students of film to watch it to understand what not to do.
This film has a large cast, very good lighting and some production values that set it apart from most low budget films. But it is the unique story that makes it watchable. At first, it looked like a standard cop drama, terrorist story, but then it took a turn into a cult world that was unexpected. Sometimes the story wavered between being a dark, serious drama, and a comic romp, but it had a very interesting premise that kept it watchable. There was some exposition to explain the world we were seeing that I thought was unneeded. But the lead actors, playing brothers in the film, were both likeable and we rooted for them. Haley Jackson as Medusa was breathtakingly gorgeous.
I enjoy watching films that tells a fantastical mythological tale. "Fighting Olympus" is compelling and imaginative, and filled with unexpected plot twists that keeps the audience captivated. Being a huge fan of Greek Mythology, I love seeing Hades, Zeus, Athena, and Medusa in action in the realm of the Gods. Leslie Jones shines as Rucker, a tough and compassionate ex-cop determined to find his kidnapped brother, Biddle (Devinair Mathis) and enters the lion's den - a ruthless cult based on the Greek pantheon. The ensemble cast was game, and made this distopian world interesting.
The set design of this film is impressive. This movie has tons of characters and plenty of action. Directed, written and produced by Julian Hampton, who managed to made the movie look big and cinematic, with wonderfully choreographed fight scenes. If you are looking for an entertaining film that will take you to another realm, look no further.
