This is ME

We got a viewing of this along with some other disability related shorts and this one in particular impressed both me and my husband. Having suffered from cfs for over ten years it was refreshing to see spoon theory being used as a way of explaining it. The only thing I would change is more about the spoon theory as I had to explain it to our daughter after. All in all it was great though and the actress really portrayed the condition exactly as it is.

I was broken like this by people pressurising me to give them my spoons. The end isnt accurate though. Noone can give you the spoons. Once they are gone you cant be revived. You have to lie in the road for a few days, ignoring all who come to help you. Because speaking to them is giving up a spoon that you gained from 3 hours lying in the street. Then the police come, not a doctor or ambulance, not loving children greet you but people poking you and prodding you, pushing you out of the way. The police see you as a criminal. They call someone to put you in a straight jacket. Then you get tax payers telling you to do the washing up. When your legs cave in at the sink they tell you how much they are suffering and how its all your fault.

Following the day in the life of a young woman with chronic fatigue syndrome/ME. Based on the spoon theory, which I never knew about before watching this! Fantastic short. Very touching.

Perfect description of how the spoon theory works (for those of you who don't know it - 'spoons' can be used as a metaphor for the amount of energy a healthy person has - a healthy person will have an almost unlimited number to get them through the day, a person with me/cfs practically none). Please help spread the word about how badly affected are those people with cfs/me.

It's so hard to portray just how devastating this condition is. Well done. I know this would have cost Josh a great deal in terms of payback. Thank you for getting our message out.
