I would give it 11+ stars if I could. Such a genuine set of people and great insight into an aspect of life most people are not exposed to. The photography is great and a good show for the whole family to get into. Only thing, you might end up wanting to buy a horse!
I just got done watching The Last Cowboy and it's interesting to see Taylor Sheridan doing a project like this especially in comparison to the more gritty and dark projects that he is best know for.
Positives for The Last Cowboy (2019-): I liked looking at the love of these people and the world of reining horses. It was interesting learning the lives of these people and what they do during their everyday lives and how they training for reining.
Negatives for The Last Cowboy (2019-): I'm not really a fan of reality shows. These type of shows just bore me and I don't find them fun to watch at all. After watching this show, it didn't change my mind about reality shows.
Overall, The Last Cowboy (2019-) was an interesting one-time experience for me, but I will most definitely not be watching this show or any reality show again.

As a competitive rider, I love that this competition is being shown. BUT, it could be so much better and draw more viewers (and ratings) if it were produced differently.
Observations after four seasons: Explain how the competition is judged. What makes a horse and rider gain or lose points? (e.g. In slow motion, show and contrast a perfect spin or slide to one that considered inferior.) Explain the different type of horseshoes used. Why the riders use leg wraps. Show the various bits being used for training and showing. And other equipment used. Explain the prize money split between owners and riders.
The camera work during the finals in Season 4 was all over the place without holding still long enough to really see anything. Those overhead shots, looking straight down, are dramatic but don't show the horse or rider. And I don't need to see shots of the audience over and over and over. The actual events take place so fast, it is hard to see differences. Producers should take a page from football on TV and use instant-replay to show great and explain moves.
Every week the same questions are asked of the same riders, with pretty much the same answers given. This just gets boring.
Great horses, riders and competition. Just don't see how the material as presented will hold viewers.

I am so happy we finally have a TV show on reining horses, it is focused a lot of personal lives and does not show near enough riding. It would have been great if she tv show was executed like the tv series horsepower: road to mcclay. Also was not happy that I could not watch the run for the million like because paramount's contract and the episode of the run for the million is being show 2 weeks after the competition. I hope changes are made next year. I will continue to watch.
First of all, Reining is NOT horse abuse, as one goofball put in a review. Great care is taken with these horses, and they are treated with respect. Horses are happiest when they have a job, whether that is trail riding, working cattle or performance. These horses are top-notch athletes and beautiful to watch.
The Last Cowboy is well done, and it doesn't get lost in the minutia. It's easy enough to follow for novice horse folks, but detailed enough for those that live in the horse world. Very entertaining. Would love to see more TV centered on equines.
