Bob Saget: That Ain't Right

Geez, that's another 5 hours of my life that I'll never get back... What? It only SEEMED like 5 hours? Okay. Well, hell, even the audience wasn't laughing that much. If a "comedy" special was ever in need of a laugh track, this was it. At least then maybe I would have felt at least somewhat compelled to chuckle at the stream of consciousness masquerading as jokes that were coming from the mouth of this boring individual.

The lack of a coherent style was painful from the beginning to the end. Also, I simply don't think that trying to say the F word as many times as possible in 5 (10? 20?) minutes counts as even remotely funny. I find it more funny (hilarious even) that people paid to see this talentless hack.

it's strange to me that i hear people saying stuff like "bob saget doesn't want to be seen as the full house guy so much that he forces cuss words out of his mouth and he should stick with the family entertainment" but as far as i can tell bob saget grew up cussing this much and he was putting a sock in it for the job of playing an unrealistic family in full house (unrealistic in part due to lack of cussing). that means that in his stand ups he is expressing himself as himself... also, bob saget's vulgarity is really not more obscene than George Carlin's who wrote in "brain droppings", "How about a tattoo of the Three Stooges peering into your ***hole?" and as far as stand ups go, this was not the best. it made me laugh quite a few times, about as much as an average George Carlin special but it was not as good as George Carlin's "you are all diseased" or something of that caliber. with the crude humor i was reminded of many gross conversations i have had and laughed about in real life and all that good stuff..

Wow, I've never paid that much attention to Bob Saget, but when I've seen him before he's been pretty funny, versatile actor and performer and fairly original and funny.

So, I saw Bob Saget: That Ain't Right on my streaming HBOnow channel and thought I would enjoy some comedy. What I saw was what seemed to be an incoherent guy who was apparently convinced that he was or had been a comedian and still "had it" trying to be funny and dirty at the same time.

I watched, and kept watching and minute by minute I felt my life and my patience fading away. Gosh, I am sorry for whatever happened to Bob Saget, but that does not mean I want to be confronted with his problems and mental deficiencies for over and hour in a comedy special that is not funny.

Sorry to break it to you, but as I said, if you are close to normal, which I am not that close to normal, but I don't think an average person with an average sense of humor is going to find watching this comedy special worth your time ,.. especially if you have to pay for it. Don't.

A lot of people here are bashing this stand up, claiming Saget's gratuitous use of the F word is to show he is not the same character on Full House. Saget has been doing stand up like this for decades. His jokes were really off the cuff and seem to be just flowing out of his head. He interacts with the audience a lot and if you allow yourself to be bombarded by this stream of consciousnesses/ stream of vulgarity and gross out humor you will enjoy the ride. I would give it a solid 7.5/10. He really has a unique way of doing stand up, and if you think his "jokes" from full house were funny then you should probably not see this special because this is real humor, a comedian's humor.

I basically feel the same way I did about his 2013 special as I do this, only difference being I feel like he actually prepared jokes this time, while in 'That's what I'm talking about' he sounded like he just went on stage unprepared and started talking, with nothing but his usual wit. So this was better, got a few chuckles out of me. His material isn't that diverse as he spends most of the time talking about his previous shows so if you're unfamiliar with those you won't relate as much, which was my case. If you already liked Bob Saget being Bob Saget then you'll enjoy this because it is a peculiar type of humor, but if you didn't and are just looking for a special to watch it's worth second guessing, not something I'd recommend.
