'DELIVERANCE' is based on a Zen-like parable that has appeared around the world in different cultures, languages, religions and philosophies, but its theme of 'mukti' -- deliverance -- remains timeless.

The director Zachary Coffin read the story as a 5-year-old child growing up in San Francisco, and it made such a deep impact that he said he turned the story over in my mind his whole life. During monsoon season in India last year, Zack happened to see photos of the Mallalli river, and knew at once that this was the time to present the story on screen.

The film was shot in the jungle mountains of Coorg (with leeches and no phone connectivity!) in a single day. One very tough day. But the intensity of that experience is in the DNA of the final film and the viewer can feel it. That's our hope, at least -- that the profound impact this story has had on the team, we could share as earnestly and authentically as possible with you the viewer.

A Timeless Parable with Brilliant Acting & Cinematography

Zachary Coffin has brought his passion, brilliance and vision to writing, directing and acting in "Deliverance." The zen-like timeliness of the story leaves one in wonder. Sanjay oozes gravitas. Ishit is divine in her beauty and ethereal presence. A great piece of work and a joy to watch multiple times. It will survive the ages.
