Spectacular season finale that gives us much to look forward to
The cinematography continues to be top notch with great camera angles and fantastic lighting, each scene look beautiful and so authentic to the era. The editing was top notch which made the pacing so much better.
The story have always followed these four perspectives: Tongs, the Irish, Police and politics. I have to admit that all four perspectives was perfect. One character arc I have enjoyed this season is Penelope Blake, and I really didn't like her in the first season but here she got less screen time but more valuable and better written arc, how it should be. When you're looking back at the character and her whole story arc I have one thing to say about it, it's been a great one. Joanna Vanderham gave a good performance, and I want more of her character. There is a lot of other characters I have loved in this season, Dylan Leary is another one and he have grown to be one of my new favorites. Dean Jagger is incredible in both the dramatic and fighting side of the character, great performance. There have been a lot of good acting performances in this season: Dean Jagger, Andrew Koji and Kieran Bew were my personal favorites. The season finale continued with its superb writing, both in story and dialogue. There's also some witty dialogue and the actors succeed in delivering it, and what we got was something amazing and funny. Thanks to the chemistry too I believe.
The fight choreography for this episode was like expected incredible and it was a fight I have looked forward to for a long time, Ah Sahm versus Dylan Leary. It was a bit drawn out but for a fan of martial arts movies it was fantastic, entertaining from the very first punch to the very last. I thought there were a perfect amount of action in this season finale, as the episode does exactly what it should do. Tying up story arcs and building new ones for us to look forward to. I really hope there will be a third season, the show deserves it and we the viewers deserves it too. The overall season have been incredible, it's been improved in every aspect. The third season will possibly be even better, I'm here to stay.
Please don't let this be the end
Overall, a wonderful series finale if not the fireworks show people were hoping for. It touched on every major character and thought the action wasn't as explosive as the previous episode, we did get see the showdown this series has been building on between Ah Sam and Leary. The fates of all the other characters are also up in the air as an amazing second season draws to a close.
I only hope that we will at some point get to see where these new roads lead. The battles you don't fight count as much as the ones you do. Well this is one show definitely worth battling over. I hope to see it again soon!
Great & satisfying Closure ❤

- WissenswertesIn reality, the political pressure aimed against the Chinese immigrants that started gaining momentum after the two-day riots, culminated in what was named the "Chinese Exclusion Act," a United States federal law signed in 1882, prohibiting all immigration of Chinese laborers. It "was the first, and remains the only law, to have been implemented to prevent all members of a specific ethnic or national group from immigrating to the United States" (Wikipedia). Though often circumvented, it officially stayed in effect well beyond the end of World War II.
- PatzerWhen Penny Blake barges into the bar and confronts Mayor Walter Buckley, the door repeatedly switches between being closed in close-up shots of Penny and Buckley, and open in wide shots.
