The film starts off fun and bubbly. But when the bubbles start to pop you see how not everyone will be experiencing the same Christmas spirit we would hope. The ending scene is rough and will leave you thinking. This is not your average Christmas film. Perfect for anyone not looking for the typical holiday film.
I think the realism of story is what makes it so interesting. Not everyone is having same type of Christmas morning as often shown in many Christmas movies. It's more darker and upsetting in a way. There are some great heartwarming moments but this is a drama film and a different type of Christmas film.
Mostly just a bunch of realistic conversations people might have on Christmas, mostly in a ride share. Cheery and not so cheery both. Realistic in the varied real Christmases people have. And I guess it is very impressive that there was no written dialog for the script. But at the same time it kind of shows, in that for me, I feel like the whole thing could have been handled in half the time as the conversations went on and on. Slow. But, probably a solid 7 or 8 if you like talking about emotions a lot. And I mean a lot. Many little tales as the riders come and go.
Now if you were to compare it to, say, Hollywood slop like Four Christmases, this is an 11 out of 10 to be sure. This has realistic heart to it, and that does mean it isn't all upbeat by any means.
Stefanie Davis' Christmas Ride captures the spirit of the holiday in a new way by focusing on issues ailing the passengers of a ride share driver. Each issue is relevant to many with holiday woes but Stefanie makes it feel personal to us without heavily relying on time old traditions seen in most christmas films. I encourage anyone to view it and who knows it might rekindle some holiday magic thats been lost in the year 2020.

- WissenswertesThe film does not have a physical script. Writer, Stefanie Davis, created a detailed outline and music list for the cast to follow for the story. The entire concept is improvised as part of a mumblecore type dynamic. Each actor was given a color palette, situation, and collaborated on their backstory to make the dialogue as fluid as possible.
