Desconexo

The film had several themes and layers. Being offline and what to do instead, being disconnected from life and reality because of the Internet, imagination and desire.

Thiago and Lucas are neighbours but have only ever "met" online. A crisis in the government leads to the suspension of the Internet and the lads have to find something to do in real life.

During this narrative, this short tells parallel stories of what is actually happening and of what is happening in the boys' imaginations. When reality and imagination come together, the Internet is restored suddenly. The online world is primary again.

The two attractive leads played good parts. The dialogue was pertinent.

I saw this as the first film of a compilation called The Male Gaze - Shadows on Skin. I've seen the fourth film of the collection as a standalone and it was worth it. I hope the other two films of the four are of the same standard.
