For me going in to this 100% blind with zero spoilers or clue of what I was about to watch made this a fun thrill ride for a one time watch. The ambient music, sound effects, cinematography, and execution was especially impressive. The screenplay accomplishes a lot getting by with very little. I was on the edge of my seat arrested with anticipation. Not a dull moment as a result. It was a little bit clever and refreshing I'm not going to lie. To me this was a bit of a callback to 60/70s odd folk indie scifi thriller horror. I was so relieved to find this film wasn't some generic thing written for kids & teens in mind. It was certainly an enjoyable one time watch that I would recommend. Nothing to write home about but fine to pass the time. I think the main reason this film worked for me was that I did not spoil the plot for myself ahead of time. That is nearly the only way to view this in my honest opinion. This was a cut above average thanks to some stellar writing, and really noteworthy ambient music and cinematography. Well done to those who crafted this film.
Seemed like pretty good schizo picture. Woman wakes in a house with no memory and engages in strange behavior. Her "sister" tells her this is because she's a schizo but she's receiving treatment here. There's also a demented old man and little boy who seem to also be "patients" in the house. I turned it off about half hour in when there was smoking.
I sat down to watch the 2020 movie "Pasture" without ever having heard about it. I stumbled upon a copy of the movie by random luck and opted to sit down to watch it.
Might as well have skipped on this movie. Yeah, this was a swing and a miss from writer Alexis Roblan and director Sean Hardaway.
I found no entertainment in "Pasture", and in fact I was about as confused as the Sarah character was in the movie, because nothing made sense in the storyline. It literally felt like I was just watching random segments of footage pieced together to make a movie. As if they had given 100 people a camera each and told them to make a small segment of footage with any of the cast members. There just was no red thread throughout the course of this movie.
And with nothing making sense or providing no entertainment, then sitting through "Pasture" was no easy feat. And believe you me, this movie was an ordeal to suffer through.
It should be noted, though, that the acting performances in the movie were actually fairly good, just a shame that the actors and actresses virtually had nothing to work with in terms of a proper script or storyline.
"Pasture" is not a movie that I would recommend you waste your time, money or effort on. Some of us suffered through this nonsense so you don't have to.
I am rating "Pasture" a mighty generous three out of ten stars. I would have given it a two, because of a confusing heap of a storyline, but the acting performances in the movie actually managed to haul the rating up a notch, and thus it scores a three star rating.

If you're looking for a traditional thriller full of predictable cliche flashbacks and shock and awe then maybe Pasture is not for you. This film is for those of us who enjoy something a little different, in this case a lot different.
The makers of this film went out on a limb to produce a product that makes you question your own existence. Could some of us be better off without consciousness? A series of twists and turns reveals the shocking truth...and it's definitely not what you expect. Delve into that dichotomy and you wind up in the Pasture.

In an effort to keep you guessing about what's real, what's not, and what's actually going on, this movie bores you to tears.
You pick up on the fact that nothing is quite what it seems as soon as this film begins, so you're waiting for the big reveal pretty much the entire runtime.
Alas, instead of gradually building up to a crescendo, the makers of this film instead decided to belabor the point.
At an absolute plodding pace they repeatedly hit you over the head with random nonsense to remind you of what you figured out in the first five minutes.
The problem of course is that by the time they get around to letting you in on the secret, you have long since stopped caring.
While there are attempts to interject deeper meaning through the use of metaphors, they are heavy handed and therefore fall flat.
Further weakening the overall impact of this movie is the exceptionally drab color scheme.
Yes, stark landscapes, spartan set design, and a washed out color palette can be evocative of certain emotions; however, when that is virtually all the audience is offered, it ultimately becomes an additional strain on their ability to engage with the story.
In what I suspect was a misguided attempt to be avant-garde, Pasture takes what could possibly have been a coherent vision and instead turns it into a jumbled mess of mildly interesting concepts.
Unfortunately for anyone who tries to sit through this entire film, the sum total of those concepts is a tedious waste of your time and attention.
Ultimately the movie succeeds most as a testament to how trying too hard can wreck an attempt to share a meaningful experience with an audience.
