Charming musical adventure film from the Walt Disney Company taking place in Florence and Siena, within a picturesque and slightly caricatural Italy. Tommy (Thomas Kirk, Babes in Toyland) is a young American student in architecture at the University of Florence, and, almost hitting her with his Vespa, he meets here Annetta (Annette Funicello, The Shaggy Dog), a young artist painter. While buying one of her paintings in a shop, he mistakenly takes the packet of another customer, Miss Brooks (Helen Stirling, Bluff storia di truffe e di imbroglioni).
But this Miss Brooks appears to be a member of a gang of traffickers of stolen masterpieces, led by the count Roberto (Ivan Desny, Sherlock Holmes and the Deadly Necklace), nephew of the old countess Della Scala (Liana Del Balzo, Profondo Rosso), owner of a palace full of rare paintings. Tommy and Annetta, helped by their friend Bruno (Nino Castelnuovo, Un maledetto imbroglio), will have to struggle against the Count and his henchman Lorenzo (Venantino Venantini, La rossa dalla pelle che scotta), in order to salve the artistic treasures of Florence from the greediness of the crooks. Our Disney boy and girl shall get through a lot of dangers and emotions, including a thrilling sequence in a Gothic crypt, to be able to celebrate the friendship between the USA and Italy.
