Vera investigates the death of a builder, who's left on the memorial steps.

Most definitely yes! Vera is perfect for a Sunday night, and once again they present us with a cracking, intriguing, first rate episode, I thought it was an excellent start to the eleventh series.

I'm not sure about you, but I have missed this show more than anything, genuinely one of the best there is, question is, was it worth the long wait?

The acting as always was first rate, everyone played their part, in addition to the main cast, I thought Lorraine Ashbourne was great.

You can definitely spot the social distancing, credit to them for getting this made during a very difficult time, clearly made to work within a specific set of rules, there is some clever camera work here which tries hard to disguise it.

If you've not seen the clip of Phil and Holly with the surprising guest, it's worth a Google search, and very funny.

Definitely a fan of Mark's new look.

I definitely follow the show, but I can't go a day without reading about the future of this show, I know we can't have this and Endeavour forever, but as long as both are viable, I hope they carry on, we need both.

Great to see Vera back, 9/10.

It's as if this season opener was deliberately stripped of any of the charm for which the series is renowned. The focus was purely on the case at hand with Vera tromping toward one red herring after another. There was no development provided for any of the other characters; in fact, it resembled an episode of. The Closer: a squad room of detectives scratching their asses, providing random updates as if they're expecting a gold star from their boss, and asking dull-witted questions which Vera duly answers. I felt embarrassed for the supporting cast. Hope it improves.

After a break due to a pandemic, Vera is ready for an 11th season. The new episodes are all of a high standard and will not disappoint fans. Of the new ones, this is the best, in my opinion. The plot stands out significantly, the story becomes exciting and not least something that is important for crime: the surprises we get. A good crime story should really get us involved and try to find out who the killer is. In this episode, the creators managed to surprise me greatly. Exciting and top crime. Let's hope it's a 12th season. Brenda Blethyn as Vera is still in top form, and the series holds up.

The acting was particularly good in this episode. My interest was kept until the end. The problem for me is that the episodes too often follow the formula of turning suspicion on lots of people in succession, only to finally find the real murderer is the last one. There are other ways to keep the audience interested. Compared to the pluses of the acting and scenery I still find Vera worth watching.
