Dark Hole

By and large, I'm not a huge fan of subtitled shows, as I tend to multitask while I'm watching. But this one got me hooked, and I binge watched it in one day. Take Stephen Kings The Mist, throw in the zombie movie 28 days later, and sprinkle a little bit of Stranger Things. Hugely entertaining, left me wanting to watch the next episode every time. Only bug bare is the origin story. A huge sink hole appears out of nowhere, there is lots of back ground TV footage about massive sun flares. But after the first couple of episodes it is never mentioned again.

Korean Drama "Dark Hole" is indeed a dark drama with a thrilling story.

The main plot is about a mysterious dark hole that appears in the middle of a forest, from where a ghostly creature turns everyone into zombie like creatures, while communicating with some of them. The base of the disease is mainly fear, especially the fear of your own demons, while the pandemonium that the new crisis creates is what provides the drama with the horror element. The dynamics of the local communities are tested and the two main heroes shine due to their efforts to bring everyone together.

Unfortunately, and though the drama had plenty of touching and emotional moments, while providing solid backgrounds for every character that appeared in the story, the ending was too sci fi -ish and didn't feat the mood of the drama at all, although that final scene was the touch that was just perfect for a suspenseful thriller like Dark Hole. Still, that ending, along with the CGI, needed to be better.

Other than that, the performances were great by everyone in the cast and the action scenes were perfectly executed. The dark atmosphere was also nailed and suited the story completely.

So, overall, 8 out of 10.

If you're a fan of sci Fi horror and like what Korea has been offering lately ( who doesn't as we're getting some great entries ) then this should please you!.

It's a little slow for the first episode or two but do persevere as it seems to find it's stride, a few things seem to be going on and it's not entirely obvious about why certain people are infected and some are not but it's early days still and this brings a fresh spin on what we're used in this type of series.

Really glad I stuck with it, reminds me Abit of a Korean version of "The Mist" with zombies.."mutants" as they're referred to in the show.

The story in itself is good. It can be a great show. However, I can't stand the facts that the writers set aside logic. People's decisions and actions are just super dumb. The fact that people froze is understandable because of fear (not everyone is a hero). But the rest just lack of common sense. Shut down your brain if you want to enjoy this fully.

Seems for last few mths-all there been decent to watch is korean awaken/its ok/taxi driver etc etc=but dark hole is good zombies included.
