Duyster

As a fellow Belgian, I watched this film with much benevolence and I wanted to like it, but the sad truth is that there just isn't that much to like. As a matter of fact there isn't anything to like.

The plot is so thin you have to use a magnifying glass to find it. I suppose that the 'actors' are amateurs, because it is very obvious.

And as far as the 'horror' aspect is concerned, I honestly didn't find it. A short walk in an abandoned building with red light? A mysterious transportation to the 16th century? An encounter with a notorious henchman? For those of you familiar with Belgian comic books, I got the impression that I had entered an adventure of 'Suske and Wiske' (google it and you'll see).

I gave it two stars for effort and for being Belgian, but even that is more than justified.

Great way to spend Halloween with this Belgian movie. Great direction And well casted. The story is very original And the atmosphere is really captivating. Antwerp is my hometown city which made it more special. Loved the music, the art direction And the scenery. I hope we Will see a lot more from these 2 Young directors! 10 stars out of 10 .

This is a found footage movie. It is filmed as a student documentary, and I think it is exactly that. Mediocre acting, except for the few professional actors.

Overall not that bad, but seen better. It is 1h15 long and should not be Longer.

Avoid when you want to have a good time.

I don't mind found footage movies when done right.

With Duyster the moviemakers did the opposite.

It's no budget nonsense and not in a fun and entertaining way.

The acting is terrible, the story about Johannes Duyster is just silly, there is no tension and the movie has a stupid ending.

Since the movie is about an old executioner you may expect some gore. But nope. Nothing special to be seen here.

The persons giving this movie a good score / review probably worked on this mess, or are family members from the crew.

With one hour and fifteen minutes, this movie is too long.

Just the end credits will do.
