Netflix has adapted a novel called The Brass Verdict into a television show. It stars Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Becki Newton from How I Met Your Mother, Neve Campbell from the Scream franchise, Christopher Gorham, Angus Sampson from the Insidious franchise, Jazz Raycole, and Lana Parrilla from Once Upon a Time.

In 2006, Michael Connelly published his first novel out of six books, based on Mickey Haller. 2011, sees Connelly's first book The Lincoln Lawyer get adapted into a movie. Years later, in 2022, Netflix released a television show, called The Lincoln Lawyer. This is based on the second book in the series, known as The Brass Verdict.

After another lawyer mysteriously dies, Mickey Haller (Manuel Garcia Rulfo) inherits all of his unfinished cases. On top of needing to learn his cases, he starts to investigate the sudden death of his colleague, while trying to repair his relationships in his personal life.

It's not hard to see why The Lincoln Lawyer is so popular on Netflix. All the storylines, and likable characters make the show intriguing to watch.

Rulfo is charming and personable as Haller. He makes the audience as well as the court laugh with his one liners. Previously having substance abuse issues, he has compassion for other people in similar situations, which is what leads him to hire Izzy Letts (Jazz Raycole) to be his driver. She is a great supporting character. They care and hold each other accountable to insure they both stay on the right path. Gorham does a good job portraying Trevor Elliott, a billionaire who plays the victim in his wife's murder. Newton plays a positive and caring Lorna Crane, she is Haller's secretary as well as friend. In addition, to all the people assisting Haller, he hires a private investigator named Cisco. Sampson works well together with the team in order to insure Haller's success.

The multiple storylines creates interest in the show. Most episodes there is a smaller case that Haller must win, but there also is a big case he has to solve along with other plot points. My verdict for The Lincoln Lawyer is if you like legal dramas, you will like this show.

The Lincoln Lawyer was actually better than I expected. I never read the books this was based off of but I did watch the Matthew McConaughey movie and thought it was pretty good but not worth making a series over. I really expected this to be some low budget rip off. I couldn't have been more wrong. I actually enjoyed it more than the movie. I wasn't going to watch it until I saw all the great reviews and that it was one of the most watched series of the year for Netflix. Manuel Garcia-Rulfo does a good job as the lead and Becky Newton, Neve Campbell, Angus Sampson, among others all do a fantastic job in supporting roles. While it's not the best lawyer show you'll ever see, it's definitely still worth watching.

As a lawyer, I must say The Lincoln Lawyer delivers a courtroom drama that's engaging and relatable, though not without its flaws. Mickey Haller, played by Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, is a charismatic attorney who operates out of the backseat of his Lincoln, navigating complex cases and the gritty underbelly of Los Angeles. The show does an excellent job blending legal manoeuvring with personal drama, giving viewers a glimpse into the challenges of balancing justice and the lawyer's life.

What stands out most is how accurately it captures the unpredictability of legal work-negotiations, client dilemmas, and the pressure to stay sharp under scrutiny. That said, some aspects are dramatized for entertainment, and a few courtroom moments stray into overly simplistic territory. Real law is messier, slower, and often less glamorous, but I can forgive these liberties for the sake of storytelling.

The pacing can falter in parts, and some supporting characters feel underdeveloped, but Mickey's charm and determination carry the show. It's not perfect, but it's entertaining and offers enough legal authenticity to keep someone like me intrigued.

As a lawyer, I'd say this series earns a solid 7/10. It's a good watch, even if it's not quite the real deal.

Ok i just finished this show and i am still not understanding why people have given it low ratings. It deserves at least 8-8.5 for sure.

I was very skeptical about watching this because of low ratings and not so good reviews but i thought let's give a try to couple of episodes and then decide.

I end up watching 6 episodes in a go.

I have seen THE LINCOLN LAWYER movie and we all loved Matthew McConaughey so Manuel Garcia-Rulfo was looking like a wrong cast.

I think he is also one of the reasons not enough people are watching this show because he is not a big name but he is actually good as The Lincoln Lawyer.

I liked his acting and surely will check out his other work as i also don't know him much.

And about the show it has all the ingredients for a crime thriller drama.

The acting,the pacing of the show and the production everything is good.

If you like shows like BOSCH or other court-room shows give it a try and you will end up liking it.

Waiting for the 2nd season.

Let's hope Netflix won't cancel it.

It deserves more attention & love than it's getting.

Some movies and shows get unnecessary hate and this show is one of them.

I love this series and I also love the books, but they are not the same Mickey Haller. The series lawyer is your typical wealthy guy. Hard to relate. I like the guy who works out of his car, not a fancy office he was bequeathed. That said, the characters come alive. Don't get me wrong, I like the series but it's not true to Connelly's work. I'm quite annoyed that my review needs more "characters." Why can't I write a brief review?

So, OK, I LOVE Michael Connelly and all of his books. I have had a major crush on Harry Bosch, but I'd be a puddle of goo for Mickey Haller , as portrayed here. Oh my.
