Lost

What could have been 45 mins short film is stretched for 2 hours. Story is just ok, nothing extraordinary. Many story points dont have much logic. As far as performances are concerned, Yami Gautam is fine not the best, Pankaj Kapoor is legend anyways so he wont disappoint, Rahul khanna is ok, other actors are also just fine. There is one interview in last 40 mins, even if you start watching from there, you will understand all the story till that point. Critics are giving unnecessary high reviews to this film. They made the film like something very artistic and award winning, that effort is visible, directors do this now a days, when they have no substance, they try to make it artistic.

Film Review: Lost streaming on ZEE5 !!

Feels strange reviewing a film after nearly a year post release !! But here goes ...

Inspired by true events, Lost is an investigative thriller that tells the story of a woman crime reporter who is working on the mysterious disappearance of a young theatre activist in Kolkata. Is he a naxalite or simply an innocent man caught up in dirty politics!!

Great acting by Yami Gautam as the protagonist and crime reporter .. she totally rocks!! Pankaj Kapoor as her father , Rahul Khanna as a wily politician and others in the cast have done their jobs well.

This shows that a film with a strong script, great cast and direction can really create magic !!

Starts off in a laid back manner, very much like the city of joy , 'Kolkata' where the events happen. However the film picks up pace slowly and the twists and turns will definitely keep u intrigued till the end !!

On the flip side , some loose ends needed to be tied up .. some questions left unanswered.. could have been tightened up a bit !!

Lost is a thriller film directed by aniruddha roy chowdhury.

See, this film has its politics at its right place but the path it chooses is quite cumbersome and laborious. The screenplay does not let you hook with the storyline. The characters are not interesting enough. The performances are great. Yami gautam, pankaj kapoor, rahul khanna are fabulous. Kaushik sen in a small role did a wonderful work. The cinematography is epic. Kolkata has always been a city of great mystery. The film establishes it through its narrow lanes quite well. The music is melodious. The commentary on caste and propaganda politics is loud and clear but it remains surface level until the last scene. It hampers the overall quality of the film. The investigation procedure could have been more crisp. This is a good film bogged down by its convoluted screenplay.

So many good actors and yet Lost fails to deliver on what could have been a good movie.

The premise is good, but as many reviews have noted the story is stretched too long. I can't even call it slow burn. Many scenes are unnecessarily long, and some don't even add much to portraying who the characters are or contributing to the story.

The way characters talk to each other feels weird and unnatural. I couldn't help feel that Rahul Khanna was trying to emulate RG✋ which just distracts from the story. Did the writers really want that?

Reviews that have given this 9 and 10 stars is Lost on me. Maybe I missed something?

Just not saying this because of I am a Yami Gautam Fan. And I really don't understand films how these Reviewers does. But LOST is a good movie. Yes sometime you will fill bored , doesn't have the soul of KAHANI but now a days the kind of Bollywood movies is being made, in that standard this will stand out as a good film.

It could have been a great thriller if the ending was cleverly planned.

It does get lost into finding actually what it wants. It was going into the right direction but got lost in between. Here Vidhi is just going to people and just asking some bunch of questions. But at the end just one person gave away what actually happened to Ishaan. I mean really.

Now about performances. In that case you won't be able to find anyone who isn't suitable for their role. Yami as Vidhi is simply fantastic. You will actually travel with Vidhi around Kolkata. Vidhi is fearless, always speaks her mind, yet she is empathetic, emotional. In one scene she is sitting with Ishaan's sister and told her to eat a cake, after that she looks at her, you will see Vidhi's empathy through Yami,s eyes, That's how good she is. Rahul Khanna, Pankaj Kapoor, Pia everyone is apt to their role.
