Farmtastische Weihnachten

A quintessential Christmas romantic comedy produced by Stan features Poppy Montgomery in the role of Emmy, the daughter of Clementine Jones. This detail is significant as Emmy is an Australian author whose book, centered on reconnecting with nature on a picturesque farm in Queensland, is acquired by the prestigious New York publishing firm London & London. Following her agent's advice, she pens the book titled "Clementine," drawing inspiration from her late mother's journals and crafting the protagonist to reflect her mother's life.

However, a complication arises when the publishers express their desire to experience a genuine Australian 'Clementine' Christmas prior to finalizing the contract. Emmy must swiftly return to her family's farm, enlisting the help of her cousin David (Hugh Sheridan) and his spouse Miles (Nicholas Brown) to uphold the façade. The situation becomes more precarious when Ellison London (Jeanette Cronin), the CEO of London & London, arrives with her charming adult son Jack (Darren McMullen) in tow-if he recalls their encounter in New York, the charade will be exposed.

Too bland to be saved by extra twists.

Admittedly I generally don't love Christmas films or romcoms, so this one probably wasn't my genre to begin with, but as there have been some great Aussie Xmas films (Mooney Christmas, a sunburnt Christmas) I decided to give it a go.

I think this film felt like it was written to take place in America and then quickly was slapped together for Australian production. The Aussie elements brought in more felt like cheap stereotypes then actual nods to Australian culture. Overall I felt like it was an Australian movie, but not made for Aussies. I'm not really sure who it was made for tbh.

Better than a lot of Christmas movies and very much like a modern version of Christmas in Connecticut 1945.

Enjoyed sitting back and watching the fun.

Genuinely surprised by these reviews! Not sure what people expect from a Christmas movie, but if you go into it expecting a cheesy Christmas movie that's exactly what you get - and it's great because of it. Fun cast, easy to watch, enjoyable and funny; everything you need for an Aussie Christmas movie. And hats off to Stan for pumping money back into the Australian film industry.

Lovable over the top characters in a light hearted uplifting Aussie Christmas movie.

Lots of references to Crocodile Dundee.

Excellent cast and beautiful bright photography.
