One hundred years ago Francis Barruth presented the theory that humanity's next evolution would be the product of philosophy and drugs. Banished from the academic world, Barruth is rumored to have written a masterwork, 'The Kitrino Vasilicon', detailing an exact series of steps for humanity to take that next evolutionary leap. In the modern day Barruth is little more than a footnote but Philosophy Professor Isaac remains convinced of the thinker's relevance and is relentless in his search for Barruth's path. When a page from the 'The Kitrino Vasilicon' is found Isaac deciphers it to reveal Barruth's recipe for a broccoli-based drug that will make his philosophy -- and humanity's future -- clear.

A diverse collection of people are introduced to broccoli and proceed to upend their lives in pursuit of higher truths and purposes. Old regimes and ideologies are challenged as broccoli users across the globe seek to establish their own institutions. As the changes brought by broccoli become more profound and impactful, Isaac's search for 'The Kitrino Vasilicon' gains more importance. The nature of change is the dominant theme as humanity teeters between taking a bold new evolutionary step or tragically becoming a planet of broccoli addicts.

The Sacred Broccoli Uprising is an ambitious micro-budget musical by first-time writer/director Dan Bleskan. It features an ensemble cast, 10 original songs, and an edgy and distinctive score from composer Gordy Haab.
