Found Footage of Fear: Digital Terror

An unfortunate number of horror film fans identify too deeply with Darryl, our antihero, and as those viewers realize he's not the success story he wants to be, they may turn away from this movie. The creep factor in the story is ambiguous, a bit messy, but I really enjoyed it. The performances are solid, the dialogue completely natural, the SFX virtually non-existent, and it works. Anybody could have made this film with stuff they have lying around the house, but nobody did before, so applause for the delicate, accurate portrayal of a British incel coming slowly unwound. Is he, or isn't he? Xx.

Found Footage Of Fear: Digital Terror utilizes a ghostly presence to account for the few supernatural elements. But mainly, the film is scary because of who the main character is Darryl. The plot is rather bare-bones, as the writers, director Mason-Bell and lead actor Mills, are much more interested in observing what makes a doxing misogynist tick and watching him unravel than rushing through a plot for the sake of it. Mills wonderfully brings the scumbag protagonist to life, as he sells the mental break well. Wallace stuns as Nat, bringing an empathetic nature to the events, as she seems to truly love Darryll. Spencer Craig is all high energy and boisterous as the best friend, perfectly aligning with the role's more unflattering traits.

A truly masterful meditation on how extreme ideas spread online and bleed into real life, especially in the wake of the #metoo movement, cancel culture and marxisim. Chris Mills was pretty good in it and can make a solid protagonist but unfortunately it doesn't hold still.

Nah I'm just kidding this is garbage and the characters are cartoonishly poorly developed. There is not a single scary or creepy moment. I did give it 2 stars because the ending is so comical, which makes me think this might secretly be an absurdist farce. Also, it looks okay for a 100$ budget movie shot in a guys single room apartment.

Found Footage Of Fear: Digital Terror is not be all that scary, from a conventional standpoint at least. But, witnessing the slow decline of an angry man who feels he's being attacked solely because marginalized people are finally getting representation is frightening. Mainly because we all know or have heard about such radicalized individuals in real life and seen the havoc they have wrought. Viewers will see the horror of everyday life thanks to the strong writing and excellent performances. Though, it might be too close to home for some. Nice try guys but simply wasnt scary enough which contradicts your point.

When you're operating with such a low budget, it's important to really clarify your vision. Was this a possession movie? A ghost movie? The embodiment of online collective consciousness? No clue. Did every character look directly into the camera in almost every scene? Yes. Could no cost effects have been made better than in this film? Yes. I don't like to bash on indie film makers, it's just that there didn't seem to be a lot of thought or work put into this production. I'm sorry.
