The Smile Man

Don't waste your time watching this disappointment of a movie. Cringe drama moments trying to force a sentimental reaction from the viewers, subpar acting by all the cast that makes you feel it is scripted rather than being realistic, lame make-up for the deceased characters to show a smile that defies the laws of Biology (the teeth is shown shaped as a bracket rather than a C), a hero that gets an "orgasm" in crucial parts of the movie (referring to the senseless portrayal of a condition of Alzheimer's) and poor direction. Even if you do watch this movie, play it at 2x speed and you'd still understand everything.

The investigative officer's head is woefully underpowered, and the villain's character lacks depth, leaving audiences without a compelling backstory for their motivations.

The subplot involving the nurse character and her daughter feels forced and unrealistic. The action sequences are uninspiring, and the investigation is superficial, making the movie feel vague and unengaging.

However, there are some redeeming qualities. Sarathkumar delivers a stellar performance, bringing his character to life with his signature mannerisms. The music is passable, and the photography is impressive. The directors have done a decent job with the screenplay, but unfortunately, it's not enough to save the movie.

Overall, "The Smile Man 2024" is a poorly presented, boring drama masquerading as a thriller. Despite some notable performances, it fails to leave a lasting impact."

There was no story line in the movie. Should have been better. Not even an ott watch. Very dissatisfied after watching the movie. The movie could have been better. There was not even a hint of logic in the movie. There was no suspense even though it is said to be a thriller.

We are not criticizing the movie but definitely it could have been taken in a better manner such that it entertains the viewers and keeps them intact to the story line. For a movie to entertain the viewers , there must be slight of logic and suspense even though it is a fictional story.

Post that films like Kolaigaran . Porthozhil grabbed the attention and ran successfully theatres in OTTs too.

The Smile man joins this venture as an unsuccessful addition with Sarathkumar at its helm.

The story starts with Sarathkumar who voluntary retires for police after an accident that changes its life drastically and he suffers from Alzheimer .

He was unsuccessful in the case of capturing an accused a serial killer who cuts the mouth of the people and kills them . Sarathkumar tries his best to salvage this flat story with 2nd half having no real connect why the villan does these things.

The 1st half of the film went really well in not time but 2nd half faulters so badly with poorly written backdrop story

The film has stars like Kalayarasan,Ineya who gives their best with Sarathkumar to pull off this but it goes in vain

But a decent attempt by the debut director who manage to evoke this average film and makes this thriller a one time watchable.

Have a popcorn in the comfy of your home and watch this movie with no expectation.
