Neverender

To think on a level where representation speaks of its own meaning and development of self realization and the actuality of presence. These thoughts I present to you as a thematic presence amongst the new Casey Siegel film, Neverender. As an auteur, Siegel understands the power of analogy, presentation, and the use of dialogue with an ironic tone. It seems, at times, Siegel is somewhat interested in the concept of Duality of Presence; which the main character, Be (Jessie Giarmarva) revels in, between himself, his exterior life, and the internal musix of The Capitals. The score in itself resembles the presentations that the film offers. Where as The Capitals song belongs to the identity of the character. The title is the composite of the accumulation of these sound dialogue ideas.

Neverender is a drama with some comedic overtones about a depressed young mans apparent decent into madness. Ben is today's basic office drone, spending his life in a round of eating, sleeping, shaving, and sitting in a cubical for hours. His boss is fed up with Ben's poor performance. Ben is just fed up with his life. He decides to change things, but something goes horribly wrong.

Neverender is an independent film, made locally in Rochester NY, on a very low budget, by a group of talented new comers to the business. The production sparkles with a cast of excellent local actors, well chosen and put together sets, outstanding camera work, crisp editing that enhances the story, and a phenomenal sound track by area musicians.There is even a 'music video' sequence worked very cleverly into the plot which is great fun. This little gem will surprise you and leave you turning over the events in your mind long after you leave the theater. Two Thumbs up!

Basically, from the Reganation point of view (a.k.a. nick78, nicholas regan, etc.) I found the movie to be vastly entertaining and with a character all its own that could stand out throughout the ages of cinema and movie-making. I believe it has great potential to be presented at any film festival; it is thought provoking, innovative, original, full of surprises, tragic as well as comedic with a splash of drama and a pinch of suspense; this movie almost has it all.

The actors were down-to-earth in their roles and the quality of the acting is professional enough to compete with the big-boys. Neverender expresses itself in the manner of its title and is a movie that any viewer would or should never forget. It has left a scar on my brain of how tragic it is when most people are depressed and want to change their situation but instead of just trying to be happy without taking a 'Magic Pill', they end up in a more profound situation with deeply precarious results. Neverender is worth seeing over and over and over and over and over again...
