Idea is better than the execution.
A mix of The Fugitive with 28 days later. But if everyone was idiotic. I didn't care about any of them.
Great premise but at less than 90 minutes it's too short for any of it to have any real impact. A lot of unearned attempts at emotional moments.
The "twist" is less of a surprise and more just expanding on what you already are able to understand.
There's a secondary story with Sonya Walger that is supposed to add depth to her character but it just comes of as superfluous. There's no impact to the story other than making the reason why's she's picked for this manhunt to be completely idiotic.
I typically don't want longer movies but this one could have used more time in the oven.

good but odd
New life was a bit of a mixed bag. It was not an awful film. But it was odd and felt like it ended out of no where with an ending that felt like it did not tie anything together. Hayley erin plays jessica. Though we dont find out her name till too late. Theres no context as to what happens to jessica before we meet her, shes coverd in blood and with a black eye and she runs, she looks frightened and runs. But shes not alone as elsa is hot on her trail and for good reason, jessica has something bad in her and it cant get out to everyone. They have a chase and it feels like not a lot else happens in the film. Good acting in this but the film itself let it down. Hayley erin made the film more believable and overall that was it really.
6.2/10. Watchable
I can't see a reason why a moviegoer is gonna dislike it, i mean, it delivers what it promises. As long as you know what this is about. So, it's not a horror movie and it's mislabelled here. This is a scifi thriller movie, leaning more into drama than horror. It's not scary neither mindless fun. There are some thrilling and intense moments but it requires your patience, it's a slow burn but it didn't drag. Furthermore, it's well acted and the script was not very good but good enough to make a viewer invest.
Simultaneously, i can't see a reason why a moviegoer is gonna love it or get excited. Really low budget for this genre, a bit amateurish production and definitely a movie which almost everyone who watch it, will forget in a week max.
So, lower your expectations, know what this is about and you will probably like it, if you like this genre. I have watched many trash movies and tv shows recently, NEW LIFE is defintely not like that. It's a good movie. Still, not a MUST WATCH. There are far better movies to watch (older movies mostly) if you have not much free time to spend.

An acceptable thriller with horror undertones about a relentless manhunt.
An agent named Elsa (Sonya Walger)with a degenerative disease tracks a young woman calles Jess (Hayley Erin) fleeing inexplicable symptoms in this science fiction thriller. As their chase narrows to the mountains of the Pacific Northwest, holes in Elsa's investigation start to fill with fresh bodies.
A thriller full of suspense, chases, intrigue, terror, and also human drama about illness in the modern world. The film features two interesting stories focusing on the two main characters: a mysterious, deeply desperate woman who is relentlessly on the run, and an older woman, an agent tasked with pursuing her, who suffers from a known degenerative disease. Their two stories intertwine inextricably throughout the film, culminating in suspenseful conclusions. The sad and twisted stories converge as the stakes in the relentless pursuit reach apocalyptic proportions. Interpretations are pretty well, such as Hayley Erin playing a woman on the run, desperate to cross the Canadian border to escape her past. A resourceful agent whose recent life-altering diagnosis leaves her one step behind. The casting is fine, giving adequate interpretations from the main actresses, Haley Erin, Sonya Walger (Lost) who, along with Tony Amendola (Once Upon a Time, The Chosen), are all eminently television actors. More popular main and supporting actors are missed, but we are really looking at a low-budget film.
It belongs to a genre that in recent decades has produced several films about viruses, bacteria, and other microbes that cause apocalyptic situations, among which the following can be included: ¨Outbreak¨by Wolfgang Petersen, ¨Carriers¨ by Alex Pastor, ¨28 days later¨ by Danny Boyle, ¨28 weel weeks later¨ by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, ¨Contagion¨ by Steven Soderbergh. This ¨New Life¨ can be compared in quality to the previous ones but has a lower budget, to which must be added a chase theme in the style of ¨The Fugitive¨ by Andrew Davis.
The film features a spiritual, strange, supernatural musical score by Mondo Boys, whose peculiar sounds have also accompanied films such as The Inheritance, The Right Hand, Fatman, uin Hide Fight, She Dies Tomorrow, among others. The motion picture was well written and directed by John Rosman, this is his debut film. However, until almost halfway through, hardly anything interesting happens, just a simple presentation of the main characters and minor incidents. It is from minute 45 onwards that the film rises to high levels of tension, intrigue, and movement, thoroughly captivating the viewer who until then was somewhat bored and asking many unanswered questions. ¨New Life¨ rating: 6/10.

It's decent, just needed a longer running time.
Agent Elsa Gray is tasked with tracking down Jessica Murdock, who's on the run and heading for The Canadian border. Unbeknown to Elsa, Jessica is hiding a deadly secret.
The short running time appealed to me, and that was both good and bad, good that I could squeeze it in one afternoon, bad because at times it felt a tad rushed.
The opening is simply bizarre, you won't know who's who, or what's happening, it really does take time to work out what's happening, the trouble is, when it does, and the action starts, it's not long before the credits roll.
Some good action sequences, and a few jump scares, there's nothing new here, nothing we haven't seen several times before, but there is some originality here.
The twist, when it comes it unexpected, it really did catch me off guard, a story I simply wasn't expecting.
Nicely acted, good visuals, with some rather effective makeup, overall a decent watch. I don't find myself saying this very often, I just wish it was longer.

- PatzerDuring Jessica's first night in the woods, she plays with her engagement ring and places it on her right ring finger; the next shot, it's on her left index finger.
