Lost in the trenches of Sherlock Holmes' nightmares and deep-rooted sense of loss and guilt is a story of a man who has saved hundreds of lives while the deaths of others he couldn't save plague his soul. With incredible music scores, dark and terrifying film finesse, and powerful performances that will draw you deep into the mind of Sherlock Holmes, you'll stay on the edge of your seat from the first minute! The cinematography in this film far exceeded my hopes, and the music scores summoned me deep into the murky mires of hellacious stories of love, loss, and sinister retribution. Don't blink.
Maybe you're one of the many mainstream American movie goers and thus might be skittish or apprehensive about seeing independent films.
Or, maybe you only see Hollywood blockbusters until a friend drags you to see an Indie film.
I myself am usually skeptical about Indie films as they often lack in proper sound, colorization, and editing. However this film, by the remarkably talented writer-director CJ Goodwyn, displayed quality sound, excellent colorization & tone (perfectly set for this dark and different psycho thriller) and first rate editing (think of the late Sally Menke of Tarantino's films).
Thank goodness! Or should I say thank Goodwyn?
From the intense and moving monologues of the Sherlock Holmes character (actor Les Best), to the perfectly timed musical score, I have to admit I was captivated... and I mean edge of the seat captivated throughout most of 'Mare of the Night'.
Dang! I am truly impressed by what comes out of the south Texas film industry.
EASY FOR ME TO RECOMMEND THIS FILM!

What a great movie, it makes you wanting more. Great acting, videography and score music. They really captured that era in time. Well put together, loved everything about it. We will watch again and again. Can't wait for more to come. Director CJ Goodwyn out did himself, this movie deserves more showings everywhere for more people to watch. I highly recommend this movie, it does not disappoint. Thank you for putting a great film out for everyone to enjoy. I look forward in what's to come in the future with this film. Again thank you to all the cast and crew for putting in their hard work into this film. This a must watch!
This film! The depth of the writing and story telling- AMAZING! The cinematography was flawless! Out of this world continuity. Where did you find such an amazing set? The POV's were thought provoking and made scenes pop! The dialogue- who wrote this???? The sound/music, fantastic!!! Lighting and color for such a dark film helped keep the audience engaged! The makeup and artistic special effects were Hollywood quality. I expect we will see more from this director, cast and crew. The lead characters read each other and flowed so well! Sherlock was the BEST and played the role beautifully. Cannot wait to see it again!
Definitely, and eye opening experience into the Psychological world of Sherlock Holmes. Enjoyed every suspenseful scene. Mr. Best was at his finest. Bravo work to cast and crew that made this film. Can't wait for Chapter 2. Seriously!! This movie was so beautifully done. I TRULY feel this is nothing short of a cinematic masterpiece-a breathtaking exploration of time, memory, and the human experience. This film ingeniously intertwines various timeframes, weaving together lives and emotions in a way that feels profoundly nostalgic and universally relatable. It's a deeply sentimental journey that mirrors our own experiences, drawing parallels to the joys, struggles, and fleeting moments that define us all. Bravo work C. J. You done it again...

- WissenswertesLes Best (Sherlock) achieved the wine bottle shot in one take as there was only a single wine bottle to shatter for it.
