Waving

I saw this film at an online showing for the OCD community. I then watched in again, part of it with my husband. He has been with me through 15+ years of OCD and he turned to me afterwards and said he " is that how you feel, it's really scared me". He has seen me at my very worst, externally, but this just demonstrated for me the power of the portrayal of the experience of living with OCD. I really think the waving team have produced something unique and I've never accessed anything that demonstrates the reality of the torture of OCD...and how far removed that is from common misconceptions. Thank you.

I haven't seen anything that represents the reality of severe OCD and intrusive thoughts like Waving does. It's first class. The lighting, the set, the characters. It manages to be a true perception of the brutality that can be OCD and mental illness, whilst showing hope and light in the journey. A wonderful, life changing film for many.

Ralph Ineson and Krissi Bohn are magnificent. Ralph manages to show a such a wide range of emotions with just the slightest of movement.

The film is also just beautifully shot and the use of sound really makes you feel like you are going through the experience alongside Ralph too.

You'll never forget Waving.

I am taken aback by the perfect perception of how it is to live with OCD and how the directors have created this. The acting is second to none, I was hugely moved by the reality of how this film portrays the huge obstacles/struggles OCD creates daily. Everything down to the narration, set, lighting, acting and emotion really blew me away. I hope this films helps more people out there understand the true significance of living with this. It's really lovely to see the directors taking on more hard/taboo narratives and making it into something special. Well done to all who created this you should be really proud!

Waving is a beautifully constructed movie that has been skilfully infused with both conspicuous and surreptitious allegorism and symbolism. It intelligently depicts a calamitous, woeful tale that radiates the oppressive, often-illogical anxiety that surrounds the commonplace, everyday thoughts of those living with obsessive compulsive disorder.

Indeed, Rolfin Nyhus and Steven Brumwell are evidently old-school artisans who clearly take great pride in considering the composition of each shot in meticulous, infinitesimal detail. They thankfully refuse to bow down to an industry becoming more and more replete with, so called, directors who have fallen for the fallacy, the gross misconception that it's sufficient to simply tell an operator to hold a camera in front of some actors and let them play out the scene as they see fit. And trust me, Waving is all the more refreshing for it.

It is through great awareness and compassion that Ralph Ineson (The Witch, The Green Knight), brings all his experience to the lead role of Charlie, deftly probing into the troubled emotions, the self-inflicted misery the character so painfully resides in.

With first class lighting, operating, sound and editing this perfectly directed short, along with some sumptuous set-decoration, ingeniously illuminates this unrelenting, debilitating, exacting condition.
