Mop King

Loved this pic! This was consistently funny throughout and funnier than Napoleon Dynamite on a fraction of the budget. A lot of comedy these days seems to be based on long awkward silences as if they are waiting for you to laugh. This movie is not like that. The quirky weirdness makes you laugh right away. Fresh, original, unpretentious. Completely unheard of, I selected this at random and was pleasantly surprised.

I thought the poster and title were funny and the name, so I had a look and was surprised how fresh and fun this indie comedy was. The characters are the best kind of silly. Jed is a good maid, he is slightly handicapped by being a knob and having major emotional and mood disorders, possibly related to junk food and his brother being a real tosser. Jed's parents are the best and Jed continuously fails to offer them any hope of him having any kind of worthwhile life. Jed has a disturbed group of friends and lots of shenanigans visiting clients homes with his bicycle powered freelance maid business. He is very skilled at balancing buckets on his handlebars.

Jed finally finds happiness in his life when he meets his perfect soulmate Deborah and I was with them all the way, through their epic struggles to stay together when faced with their own chronic immaturity, laziness and junk food addictions. Ace Dixon does a top job directing this and I really applaud the structure of the film, he keeps it really strong, nice twists and surprises and a fab over the top finale. It all made me very happy

This is one of those movies you can't quite describe adequately. It's entertaining and interesting because of it's quirky humor - both stated and visual- and it moves along to a great conclusion. It's a bit shocking at times but there are also a couple of meaningful moments. But not too many to slow down the ridiculous pummeling of unexpected gags and OMG visuals. This is not a show for Granny and the kids but a "tour de farce" and foolishness in a make-some-money-no-matter-what setting! The acting is fresh and animated and I can't see anyone not laughing out loud - quite possibly several times. There are definitely scenes you have never seen in any other movie! I understand this movies was in the Austin Film Festival and played well on the Austin IMAX screen as well as selling out at the famous Alamo Theatre.

This Mop King trailer is really funny. I recommend it to anyone who wants a good laugh. I can't wait to see the whole movie. Good luck in getting it out there. I've seen many other Mop King versions, but this one, starring all young and talented Canadian actors is by far the best. The actors are young, believable in their roles, dress the part, know their lines well, and come across as sincere and responsible. I believe it was filmed in Vancouver, I recognize some parts of town. It's great to watch a film when there are scenes that you recognize as your home town. Good use of showcasing Vancouver - Canada's most scenic beautiful city. People who don't know Vancouver very well will fall in love with the city. Hopefully they will come and visit - good for the economy.

A score of 8 means I would watch it again with my friends. Sexy young guy with a mop meets sexy older girl with a past. They fall in love and live more or less happily ever after. Good sidekick comedy, especially the fight scene. Lots of misfits including the runaway parents.

The humor is slightly below low brow. Tasteless but not too disgusting. It would be a movie to have on a double bill with The Janitor. One of the finer films with a prostitute on crutches.

I think the actors and director and production company should do well with this. It should get good reviews. I watched it at Amazon Prime. It is probably at other streaming sites.
