How is this a movie?
This entire movie starts from nothing and somehow manages to become even worst. The entire time you think it'll be one of those sports movies where the main character proves themselves and its heart warming. But no, guess what? The main character isn't even the main character. Infact, there isn't even a main character. It's just a mumbled mess of complete nothing-ness. Nothing every happens, all the way to the end. This is literally the most useless, boring movie I have ever seen in my life. The dialogue between actors are even worse. They start replying before they even finish their sentence.
Very funny!
Very Clerks-y feel to it. Totally accurate of what it's really like. The referee, the zamboni driver, all of it. Worth your time for a laugh! Every team has guys like this on it, from the new guy to the captain. I say it has a Clerks feel since it takes place in pretty much one place and looks like some late night filming to it, much like the title, some of the best things happen after hours. For those of us who take their source of entertainment and enjoyment from this sport, it is a refreshing take on things. Even the protagonists are accurate. Side commentary from side characters is hilarious and accurate.
Funny-yet-accurate portrayal of beer league sports
This movie is a near-perfect snapshot of a random, middle-of-the-week rec league hockey game. The building they play in is empty, but not cartoonishly decrepit, and the characters introduced aren't stereotypes or fit a trope. Rather, you get the feeling any one of the guys on Polly's Pies could show up at your next meet. They're funny, but not in a gag humor, setup-punchline kinda way, and when it comes to the actual hockey, the action matches real life. It's sloppy, chatty, tense, but not overdramatic or epic. Much like how Creed veered away from the unrealistic haymakers and uppercuts of Rocky, this gives the realistic speed, strategy and momentum of amateur-at-best hockey. It's just another game, and you get that sense watching the movie, but while that may sound boring to some, it really gives the movie a lot of charm. It's an easy watch, a low-stakes slice-of-life comedy that you'd come across at 2 pm on Comedy Central back in the day, and I mean that as a compliment. I recommend it!
Literally like spending a night at the rink!
If you're a beer leaguer, or just love a beer leaguer, this movie is like spending a night at the rink. Not only does it provide good laughs, but you'll instantly know who's a "Kevin" or a "Spondy" at your local barn.
This was a fun and easy watch that reminded me that all roads lead to beer league. If you're lucky, you're still lacing up late into life and remembering that it's about more than who wins or loses, it's about just being there and having fun and appreciating the goons beside you when you do it.
The Late Game does that, with a couple great cameos. Like all things beer-league-related, not suitable for your little kids to watch unless they're already used to you dropping f-bombs on the daily.

A good honest hockey indi
Come on guys, really what's with the 1 star haters...?
This is just a good honest hockey indi, nothing more nothing less.
The story is typical, the acting OK and production is on the cheaper side but thought the editing for the most part punched above its weight.
Most importantly it has you smiling and laughing at the right spots.
I imagine that some people were expecting a bigger production, or just not used to the 'Shorsey' type repartee.
I'll watch out for this directors stuff, expect it will only get better.
This one is definitely worth your 80minute investment, and had me wanting to watch 'Slapshot' again.
Enjoy.
