Not So Funny

Comedians Negin Farsad and Dean Obeidallah lead an all-star Muslim comedy performing in big cities, small towns, liberal enclaves, conservative hotbeds, rural and everything in between to explore the issue of Islamophobia.

Aside from the in-fighting, which seemed completely counter-productive to the message they wanted to send, this is a good documentary on how Muslims are perceived in America. It also shows the variety, including an Iranian-American woman who could pass as European, and a half-Italian Arab with a New york accent...

The comedy is nothing special, and these are not folks who are going to get their own sitcom any time soon, but their message is important.

Dean Obeidallah: We're doing this for the next generation of Muslim-Americans, so they grow up in a country where they're not treated less than American, and less than equal, simply because of their faith; which to me is the antithesis of this country.
