Going in, I had no expectations. I approached it with a fresh perspective, assuming it would only share character names with the source material. However, I was pleasantly surprised to discover how closely it adheres to the book.
The first episodes do an excellent job of drawing you in. By the end of the first episode, I was already captivated by the theme.
I do wish there was a bit more explanation for viewers who haven't read the books, as I can see some people might not fully grasp the story.
I absolutely loved the cast; everyone did a fantastic job. Gijs and Jessica were particularly outstanding, delivering powerful performances through their portrayal of the characters' emotions.
As for the final episode, it left me eagerly anticipating season 2. I'm excited about the direction the series is taking and hope that the next season is just as enjoyable.
(Also, a side note: could Daniel please get his blonde hair?)

I think we can all agree the movie version from 2016 was laughably bad (I mean I actually laughed when the movie ended), so I was pleasantly surprised by how this TV series turned out. I think the show writers took the concept from the books as an outline and created something better. The show had intrigue and a surprise season finale that I didn't see coming. The scenery and videography of the show was beautiful. There were also new-to-the-scene actors that gave great performances (and a great performance from The Last Kingdom alum Timothy Innes). The characters were dynamic and I was genuinely interested in their back stories. If there's a next season, I'd like to see more origin stories for the supporting characters. I think this freshman season was a good start to a potentially successful run.
Although the series is very different from the books, I really liked it, but at the same time, for five or six episodes, I didn't understand what was happening. I think the series is made for people who have read the books and yet this is in a way a mistake because at the same time, readers usually want a faithful adaptation but this adaptation borrows very little from the books. However, I recommend reading the first two books if you haven't because the series borrows from Lauren Kate's series only the names of the characters, the location, and a very abstract idea of the book.
What annoys me, however, is that the series does not have a specific ending, everything happens very suddenly and the ending, and although I understood it because I read the second book, it seems to me that it represents a climax rather than a denouement. Although the characters don't look like I imagined them, except for Lucinda, I think the actors played very well, especially Jessica. Initially, I didn't trust the actress who played Penn, but watching over the eight episodes I think she was able to portray her very well. The atmosphere itself is very mysterious and although sometimes it seemed to me that nothing was happening at the same time there was a lot of suspense and I wanted to see what was happening as quickly as possible so I watched eight episodes in a row. All this screenplay feels more like a kind of beginning or like a kind of introduction to what should have followed, that's why I can't give it more than a 7, but if I separated the actual book from the movie, I would probably give it less. However, I understood the series precisely because I read the book, in a way it is a screen adaptation inspired by the book, but at the same time, it is not. I wish there was a new season because the CGI at least was a lot cooler than what we saw in the 2016 movie. I also loved the cinematography.

I have a classic saying: Just like every beautiful thing comes to an end, we have come to the end of this beautiful thing. The final episode was exactly as I expected and they connected it to the second season. Luci went to the past and I don't know what will happen. I don't know why the sun-colored thing asking in the last scene asked. I finished the series in 2 days. It really wasn't boring at all. Each episode was great on its own. Only the effects and dubbing that I mentioned in the episode comments are not very good. They ended the final episode early. There are very long stares. Since I have watched many series and movies in this style, I can guess how it will continue in the second season. I love fantasy movies and series. I also liked this series because it was similar to HANNA. In short, I liked it. If you've come this far, I think you liked it too. I was thinking of adding it to my favorites, but I didn't like the effects, dubbing and acting in some scenes. Anyway, we have come to the end of another series. They really did a great job. Even if you don't see these comments, thank you for your efforts. We are excitedly waiting for the second season.

This show is absolutely great in every way.
I was so pleasantly surprised with everything.
Great cast, great acting, intelligent script writing that took entire story few levels up... emotional and very well done.
Score for the series is amazing, cinematography is beautiful, editing is great but above else timing and the way story develops, it's like a breath of the fresh air in the sea of not so "good" attempts to make fantasy series that will actually be so good.
It deserves season 2. Or even more seasons I hope.
So, please don't cancel it. There are people like me who loved it and who will love it in the future.
Rare gem.
