I'm following the current trial of Alex Murdaugh and so this is great to gain a more personal perspective of their lives.
I think it's well done and thoroughly interesting.

This is easily the worst murder documentary I have ever seen. Very little actual facts or data. Just a bunch of ridiculous contradicting opinions and rumors. It's an absolute garbage production. I cannot believe somebody actually green lit this. It jumps all over the place. It is repetitive. The individuals that they chose to interview have no credibility. I am not sure why they even included most of them in this documentary. I would not recommend this to anyone. There are plenty of other documentaries, articles, and sources for you to get your information from. Sit this one out. This is so bad.
Saw the Netflix documentary first. But if you don't have the desire to sit through two documentaries on this topic, I would go with this one from HBO Max. Obviously, both of these were done before the trial, but for those interested in this case, there's plenty of information that was never uncovered during those five weeks of testimony.
Both this in the Netflix documentary include plenty of information about the death of Mallory Beach, Stephen Smith, and Gloria Satterfield, but this one goes into better detail about the financial crimes, and sheds some new light on the relationship of Alex and Maggie.
Yes, there is a lot of hearsay, conjecture, opinion, and rumor being put forth by the talking heads here (and in the Netflix documentary for that matter), so some of it must be taken with a grain of salt. But overall, Low Country gives a more complete picture of this heinous series of crimes, and the family that sits in the center of it all.

I've been following the stories around this family for years and it's interesting to see the visuals of some of the locations. But I don't recognize several of the people interviewed as being involved in the case. It makes me wonder if they were just brought into the project because they had a certain look. Which then makes the whole thing suspect, in my mind.
I'm trying to keep an open mind as I continue to watch and I'll be interested to see if the events as I know them are fully presented in an open and transparent manner. There are certainly a lot of questions that still need to be answered.

Much of this documentary was nothing more than innuendo, rumor and gossip. HBO once again disappoints. It's just another HBO piece of garbage. Those "journalists" are not explaining fact but simply their personal opinions which is all journalists seem to do anymore anyway. It is obvious this family was doomed to fall. Now that the murder trial has taken place we know that much of what was intimated in this show by the journalists, especially the woman was never true. So disappointing. I think this man and family in general are horrible people. Period but that doesn't negate the truth or that lies were passed off as truths in this program.
