The Starry Love

The Starry Love was a lovely series from the beginning to the end. The graphics were phenominal and both the main story line and the side stories were great. I tend to skip side story lines but even the side stories had me hooked. This show was engaging throughout. The cast was amazing too! I would definitely recommend this to people who like this genre of C-Drama!

I did not give it higher solely because I felt there was something missing in the drama. The romance was good, but personally I did not feel proper romantic chemistry. This may not be the same for everyone though! I personally think that if it had more episodes with a longer story line, the chemistry may have been stronger for both couples, as well as the side couples.

Overall, I would definitely recommend you give it a watch!!

I've been hearing good things about this so I tuned in. The sets are stunning and it has better CGI than many cdramas I've watched. However, there are normally two things that keep me interested in dramas - admirable lead characters and a plot that ignites my imagination. The male lead is not bad, but the female lead overacts and is loud and silly. A garter on the head indeed. Yet, hadn't she teased the ML about an "old crinkly man" not being okay "down there"? A worldly vixen who doesn't know a garter's use - the inconsistency is jarring. Not to mention how tasteless that comment about the "old crinkly man" is. The garter on the head is no better. Is that supposed to be a joke? It's so tasteless to the point of being cringy. And she's reckless too, planning to snatch a bride on the wedding day when powerful figures would be present and the bride would be the center of attention, with just two puny friends to help her out. Of course things would go awry. How contrived a plot is this? I can write a better plot for mixing up a pair of brides with a pair of grooms.

The writing is blatant, no subtlety, the jokes are juvenile. It does not encourage analysis or speculation as the contrived plot unravels in a straightforward manner and spoon-feeds the senses so all one needs to do is watch. That is, you can let your brain rest after familiarizing yourself with the characters. Others might actually like this kind of unimaginative writing but I find it boring. I can only tolerate such writing when I really really like at least one cast member. Sadly, it doesn't apply here, so I had to drop it.

This series was exceptional and I have watched ALOT of Cdramas. There was great character development and complexity. Unlike many other Xanxia dramas - the characters weren't easily manipulated, they worked out their problems, and there wasn't those frustrating misunderstandings. The side stories didn't take you down an aimless path but remained along the plot of the whole series. I particularly liked that the FLs were smart and importantly treated as smart and capable- they were consulted and included in the decision making and their input was valued- I feel in some of the dramas the ML are stoic and they make decisions without the FL knowing what is going on (to 'protect' them) which typically leads to all kinds of misunderstandings- and it's just annoying.

Things I loved- great humor, deep and caring friendships and the romances were loving, supportive and affectionate (GREAT chemistry between the leads as well). The story was somewhat similar to other xianxia stories but with very refreshing twists and immensely satisfying retribution. I highly recommend!

I had seen the high reviews of this one and I was a bit skeptical, you know many times in dramaland people would just give high ratings just because of their favorite idols and all. But the high ratings here are very well justified.

What a journey! This is one of the best cdramas I have watched, and I have watched a lot! Reminded me of the quality of Ashes of Love.

This is a drama with no cliches, and I loved every turn and twist. You won't be able to tell what happens next.

It has a lot of funny moments as well as loads of sweetness but get ready to suffer a lot too for the injustices happening to the leads.

A story of love, friendship, loyalty, sacrifice and forgiveness. I actually got emotional a few times and that doesn't happen often!

Loved how the main leads here are always the women, strong main energy characters!! And they are not damaged damsels in distress no, they fight for what they want and think is right and go against everyone standing in their way. Proud to see more and more dramas like this and putting aside archaic gender stereotypical characters where the woman is just a flower pot in the story. LOVED IT.

It was very refreshing to have such detailed and developed secondary stories and subplots, although everything it's connected so you keep watching looking forward to now more about the story and each character. High quality character development here!

The pacing of the show was never slow or too fast and The ending was not rushed at all either.

The only thing that for me was a bit lacking was probably the chemistry between the main and secondary couples, didn't feel it a lot but it's something I could gladly overcome because it was well compensated with the fantastic script and all the emotions showed.

The costumes, makeup, effects and production are exceptional but I need to mention the music specially here in this drama, they have a couple of songs that are more used mostly on key scenes but they are magnificent and I kept looking forward to listen to them, but they also used very good songs in more intense scenes and they created a fantastic atmosphere with the OST ( armies going to battle and so on..)

I recommend this drama to anyone in love with this genre and who is looking for something extraordinary and super entertaining to watch . You will enjoy it!!

Although this drama "the starry love" was aired in 2023, I just finished watching it so it is abit late reviews.

I watched this drama due to I heard some good reviews from Facebook posts and main lead actor Chen XingXu.

I like his acting is so natural without overacting. He still need some improvements in acting but quite ok on screen.

He is also good at wire fighting scenes!!!

The starry love is totally different with other typical Xian Xia drama (such as mentor and his disciple plots).

It has solid plots and well-written scripts with a lot of humour scenes!!! Weak points is some special effects on some scenes!!

Main lead couple romance is heartbreaking and heart touching!! They have chemistry in their characters too!!

Overall this is best xian Xia comedy drama in 2023 because I rarely watched xian Xia genres!!! I enjoyed this drama a lot!!!
